This fort is located about ½ a kilometer to the left of the cruiseship dock. Admission is 3 euros for adults and 1 euro for seniors (65+). The fort is the oldest in the Atlantic at over 500 years old. It still houses the headquarters of the General in charge of this area. . Admission grants you the right to visit the old ramparts and defensive positions within the fort and to view multiple displays of historic military gear over the centuries. Unfortunately many of the descriptions are only in Portuguese. It is well worth a visit. Allow 30 to 45 minutes.
