If you’re hungry for a remote vacation in a stunning Scottish Highland, Durness is your perfect destination. Check out the seawater cum freshwater marvel of Smoo Cave, which features a waterfall and active marine life, including porpoises and seals. The northern sand dunes are a whirlwind of puffin activity. Durness was of particular significance to John Lennon, and supposedly inspired the Beatles song "In My Life."

Golfers at this remote course face challenging hilly terrain, but are rewarded with a picturesque setting.
We had arranged to hire clubs and were met by an extremely friendly member to complete that transaction. The clubhouse is warm and cosy with panoramic views of the bay. A great visitors course with so many different holes. The final hole is a brilliant short hole across the cliff and in you come to the deightful club house. Though I rarely get up so far North, I love this place!

I went here for my 50th birthday. It was stunning and very very special. White sand, blue sea, and freezing cold (it was January!). A must-visit part of the UK.

What an absolutely lovely beach. With its white sand and blue sea. At the far end there are also huge rocks and some caves to play in. It’s perfect for children and also ‘big kids’ like me!
