Foveaux Walkway

We had parked to see the famous signpost, so decided to spend some time on this walk. The weather was beautiful and the scenery stunning. We walked for about twenty minutes before turning back. Hope to bet back again to do more of it. For the brave, you can take a side track up to the Bluff hill lookout.

Bluff Hill

I loved the well planned spiral walkway to the look out with information boards on the way up. Beautiful vegetation and stunning views from the top. It was a clear blue sky when we were there and we seemed to be able to see forever.

Stirling Point

Reviewed By Voyager2020andBeyond - Wanaka, New Zealand

See what truly stops NZ from rejoining Australia and how far away we really are from anything. Our first day to explore the magnificent South Island took us on a drive from Wanaka to Bluff the longer way via Otago, through hills and valleys of Alexandra to Gore. Some beautifully stunning mountains and farms were passed too as we weaved our way south. Onward, toward the southern most town of the South Island. Bluff host oyster shucking competitions - in May (no oysters seen in December). The sign post lived up to its photographic iconic-ness! And there’s even a restaurant just there if you want! First experience of the South Island talkin’ loo (bathroom) too what a hoot! Disappear to the ends of ... NZ ... and see what Mariners of old would have - oceans tempestuously beating - or waves rolling in on a smooth rock shore.
