First known inter-caste marriage recorded in Hindu Mythology. Lord Muruga wed the farm girl “Thinaippunak Kurathi” Valli as his consort here at Vallimalai, 15 KM from Ranipet, on Salem-Chennai route. A long time wait for me to visit this famous temple that has 444 steep steps to climb and has a cave temple on top. Sidhars are said to stay in caves here. A mystic and very much reachable temple.
