We have been here many times with our weekend visitors from age 3 to 90. It is always a joy to return and see the improvement in the animals as they are socialized and brought back to health after bad experiences . Even though it was raining our young visitors were insistent that they had their annual trip to the farm .Today the large horse that had been attacked by a mountain lion was so friendly and bowed to us. Such a change since the first time we saw him. Today our young visitors were feeding the animals with carrots and picking up the newly born hens. Thanks to the founder and the many volunteers that share their stories about the animals and make th visit enjoyable.

Sheffield Conservation Area

This is a gorgeous conservation area. The hike is varied and challenging enough to get your heart rate up a couple of times. There are beaver dams and ponds and a few pretty lakes. There is a great view of the surrounding forest with only a cell tower to mar the wilderness. Parking is $5 - pay on your mobile or ahead of time online from the Quinte Conservation Area site.

Parrott's Bay Conservation Area

Great trail systems, really nice green space in L&A with wild animals, and birds. Trek through grasslands, marsh areas, around the bay through treed areas and coniferous forest. Easy trail in most sections - when you move off the gravelled path areas into the conifers, the terrain changes to moderate in some areas with short, steep inclines/declines. There are no facilities at this location.

We discovered this area while in town geocaching. There are several geocaches along the walkway. The walk along the river and the falls is beautiful. We saw some native wildlife including a snake, ducks and birds.
