While not for everyone, the rugged beauty and peacefulness of this land may keep you coming back for many more years. Sure, the drive is just a little long but what an adventure just getting there! If you have a long trip then break it up with jumps to parks like the Chutes, Mississagi or Walkami. Into history? The park has a rich past that goes way back. Worried about bear? Keep your food locked up in your trunk or in many of the provided food lockers. IF you see a bear, follow procedure and chase it away with noise. Always carry bear spray. Don't worry too much about the bruins - most likely they don't want to be seen by you:-) Like adventure? Rent a boat and motor and do some interior camping and check out the pictographs, falls and an old logging camp(s). Weather... Sun, cloud, rain, no wind, high wind... Welcome to the north. Be prepared. Bugs... Bug jackets and bug juice, PIC coils or Thermacell and you should be good to go. Best thing about the park are the people. The people of Chapleau are FANTASTIC just like the caring people that work for this park. The hearty campers that venture north to visit are a rare, and dying breed and are all great people. So head way north, enjoy the extended daylight and spend some time in the last, but best, frontier in the Ontario Parks System!
