We spent multiple rainy Sundays here, we love this museum so many different sections, they have a butterfly exhibit,a sloth exhibit, dinosaurs, fossils,Arthropods and many other things highly recommend this museum the best in the state

Whenever we are in the area we try ti pop in here. Informative and great displays. Lovely staff and always a new exhibit to see. Good value for money, varied displays that teaches you about the area and wildlife.

Old Jail Museum

The old jail which houses the museum was built back in 1912. The museum includes a Cherokee exhibit, an old time kitchen, Dr. Killian's 1940's era Doctor's office,feed sack exhibit, old jail cells and as of 2017 a Clay County African American exhibit plus a seasonal art exhibit.

Visitors also have the opportunity to learn why the Coastal Plain of North Carolina has the world's largest black bears and the highest black bear densities on the planet! The museum includes a 30-seat theater with a 20 minute film.

If you like hunting or animals, you will like this place. You will learn a lot about bears in Plymouth,NC and how prevalent they are around Washington county. The lady that does the tour is very knowledgeable and is a resident of the area
