With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County. The Center's unique campus includes a 1,500-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theater, a contemporary art museum, art and dance studios, and a full-service conference center with meeting and banquet facilities ready to host corporate gatherings, weddings and other special life events. The Center also runs an extensive education program and produces free community events, such as the Jazz Jam Sessions, 4th of July celebration, Day of the Dead Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting and WOW First Wednesdays performances.
Wow! The current exhibit by artists inspired by Frido Kahlo is great fun and educational. In Covid-19 this museum is limiting the number of visitors and taking temperature checks upon arrival. There is free parking in the adjacent lot and tickets can be purchased on line or upon entry to this museum. Because it's quite popular and free for residents of Escondido, I'd suggest arriving at the opening time to have a pleasant, safe visit prior to mid-November when this special show closes.

The Roynon Museum of Earth Sciences & Paleontology was established in 2000 to educate students, scouts, and the general public in earth sciences, as well as to emphasize the meaning of the sequence of life throughout geological time. We’re located in Escondido, California, and invite you to come visit us. The museum is a plethora of knowledge brought about by way of the thousands of specimens that have been acquired throughout the years bringing into focus the overall picture of paleontology. Mr. and Mrs. Roynon add specimens to the museum each year on their travels throughout the United States.

We loved it here! there is a really cool outside area with a couple gardens and they supply large magnifying glasses to find bugs! we found some caterpillars. My son loved the water area and my daughter loved the arts and craft. Inside you will find several stations set up in a large open room. Some stations to list are the doctors office with dress-up, the kitchen with dress up, the pirate ship play and climb area... great for rainy days or sun shine days... pack a lunch and eat it outside at the tables or walk across the road and let the kids play at the grape park which has a huge grassy area perfect for picnics.
