The 7 best Motels in Saint Louis, United States

April 21, 2023 Randal Brittian

The history of St. Louis has been heavily influenced by Westward expansion and blues music. The big "must-see" in this region is the Gateway Arch, while other important sites include the Museum of Westward Expansion, the St. Louis Cathedral and the Anheuser-Busch factory tour. The city offers plenty for the whole family. Children will enjoy the local zoo and the Magic House, while family members will also want to unwind at Forest Park, home to the World's Fair almost a century ago.

Good option for bicycle traveler coming from KATY trail.

I stayed here after coming from St. Charles after finishing the KATY trail. I wanted a hotel close to a Metrolink station and this was only an 8 min bike ride from the Airport terminal 2 station. Rate was reasonable, and there was a complementary breakfast. I was able to keep my bicycle in my room, and access from the front door was easy, without any steps.

Seriously understaffed, but 5 stars for undiminished service practices

Reviewed By GarryAnn

The Marriott hotel chain, as with many businesses, is battling the need for employees, and it clearly affected this site. However, the staff who WERE there elevated our experience to five stars. Attending the wedding of our daughters’ childhood friend, much of our time was given over to our young grandchildren, with all of the attendant mess and clutter. Despite having only TWO full-time employees, Executive Housekeeper Jasmine Powell dealt with our issues promptly, cheerfully, and turned what could have been a difficult situation into an opportunity to make it easy for us. Why, then, only four stars? 1) There WERE issues with certain basic amenities to be found in most every nationwide hotel chain, such as a microwave, and fridge with functional freezer compartment. 2) no free breakfast. Breakfast was $12 per person (even children) for a rather sad Continental offering. 3) catered food was generous, but generic. Non-meat option was rice with a little extra veg. I do recommend the hotel itself, strictly because of staff, but suggest eating elsewhere.

Ok but needs work

Reviewed By Larry S

Hotel management needs to learn the rule of first impressions. The desk clerk was sloppily dressed. Items for sale were haphazardly displayed. A refrigerator behind the counter displayed a layer of dirt. An open office showed boxes stacked. When I arrived on my floor, there were room supplies and items stacked in the hallway. All of this was before I had even reached my room. A wall light fixture is leaning to the side. A mirror is sitting on the floor rather than hanging on the wall. I am sitting in a broken desk chair that leans to one side. But it is the only chair in the room. The carpet is old and stained. There are chips missing from the wall. I am accustomed to less expensive motels. You get what you pay for. But the owners need to realize that first impressions can leave a bad taste. If all they want to do is provide a bed, bathroom, and television, then lower the price. My report is not totally negative. The bed seems to have clean linen. The bathroom is fine. The television works. A hair dryer is provided. The room has a coffee maker. The price is competitive with other area facilities and is close to transportation, restaurants and shopping areas. But management needs to take a serious look at appearance and make investment because I could see this place going downhill fast.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Reviewed By NiceAngel69

Upon our arrival to our 2 star hotel, we realized how quickly the decision we made to stay here was wrong. But it was 12:30am and we were exhausted. My husband went in first and the first thing he saw were dirty sheets and pillow cases, as well as cigarette burns in the sheet. We went back to the front desk and asked for clean sheets. My husband came back with a clean sheet and quickly had to turn around to get another sheet and some pillow cases. While he did that, I started peeling back the comforter in order to start the sheet changing process just as I got to the bottom of where the comforter was, a little friend was found on the sheet. It wasn’t a big, that would have been somewhat understandable. No, it was the top to a hypodermic needle. Upon my husbands return to the room, he informed me that the “owner” named Tony, told him it was too late to be providing this kind of service. My husband informed him that had we come into clean sheets and no signs of drugs being used, we would have accepted it. The place is absolutely filthy, with mouse droppings, pills shoved in holes, and crayon writing to let you know which side of the shower for hot and cold water. We didn’t want to stay, but we were exhausted and it was 1:00am by the time we got things situated. After finally falling asleep, we get a random knock in the door at about 2am. No clue who the person was, but he just kept knocking. Finally he decided to walk away. The moral of this story is, this is a rent by the hour kind of place in a not so great part of town. It’s disgustingly dirty and the guy running the place is a jerk.

Glad They Don’t Allow Pets

Reviewed By Tiffany T

I’m elated that this location doesn’t accept pets. I’m allergic to pet dander and fleas. To me, it’s unsanitary to allow pets in hotel rooms because you never know what type of germs they’re carrying. Pets also leave unpleasant stenches in the room regardless of how the room is cleaned. Thank you for thinking about your guests who are not pet friendly Knights Inn.
