Welcome to Marten River Lodge. Located in Northeastern Ontario, Temagami (Near North) approximately 4 hours north of Toronto. Marten River Lodge is a Northern Ontario premier fishing, hunting, family vacation cottage and corporate wilderness retreat destination and has been providing guests with The Ultimate Outdoor Adventure for over 80 years.
Travel has been very difficult these past two years with Covid, so we decided that we would stay close to home and explorer Northern Ontario. We were looking for a good area for photography with great accommodations, amenities, and onsite dining. We found it all, plus some, at the Marten River Lodge with hosts Peter and Tania. We stayed in a cozy log cabin, that they had ready for us, down to having the fireplace and lights on. Because we didn't want to drag food, and bedding, we opted for the American Plan. With all the health and safety precautions, we were unable to each in the dining room, so our meals were promptly served at a set time in our cabins. The meals were top-notch, and I would recommend choosing the American Plan vs cooking on your own. But if you were wanting to do the latter, they had a BBQ at each cabin, stove/oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, and even a large bonfire in the evening for smores and hotdogs! Now neither Rosemarie nor I know how the run a boat but Peter personally took us out on the river for photography. For fun, we also took the optional ATV tour. Now this was a MUST!!! They are truly dog-friendly and my little Westie loved being on the boat and ATV. The whole site was well maintained. They have cabins for single or family groups. While there was no AC, location right on the water with large screened-in porches. Great for fishing, free WiFi in the family-style lounge. Lots of amenities. Great hosts and the chef is fabulous. Wonderful gazebo and bonfire areas. The cabins were spotless, and the docks, boats, equipment, outbuildings, and grounds were well maintained. Would I recommend the Marten River Lodge? Absolutely! Would I go again? You bet!

Stayed for a few days with a couple buddies snowmobiling. Close, easy access to A trail, and the power lines for that off trail experience. The owners are very welcoming and helpful with tips for fishing and finding that perfect spot for unleashing the sled. The main lodge has a wood fireplace, a pool table, darts, TV, and a vast variety of games to play or take back to your cabin! We stayed in cabin one which had a gas fireplace (perfect for drying out your gear), fully equipped kitchen, tv with a DVD player (and a few DVDs for those late night binges), and 2 bedrooms which had 2 single comfortable beds in each. Decent parking made it easy to offload the sleds, park the truck and trailer, and still have ample room for the snowmobiles. Located only 89 kms north of North Bay, be sure to give Natalie and Brad a call to book for your next outdoor adventure!

We had a 2 night stay here. Compared to other outfitters, lodges, this rates as the best. Good food, friendly staff. Beds were comfortable, common areas well cared for. We had a great lunch for our first day camping which was really a treat. No complaints! Nicole

Amazing location with great hosts. The cabins are cozy and super clean. The view is amazing right outside your cabin door. Will definitely be back. Love that the cabins have hydro and water. Best of both worlds “camping in style”

While cruising to home base on our Leisure Island Houseboat, we spied this great little place and immediately the smell of Fresh Cut Fries wafted over the water and lured us into this great little enterprise. No problem to park a runabout or a houseboat here as the docks are very well constructed. I immediately struck a conversation with Adam Pugh the Co-Owner along with his partner Kayla. These lovely people are full on energy and are bringing a new vitality to this well established business, Loon Lodge. So, we had some very interesting conversation, a Loon Burger that was huge, fresh, hot and stacked with great garnishes, Onion Rings that were tasty, crisp and fresh and lastly an order of fresh cut fries sizzling right out of the fryer. Did I enjoy the meal? Will I go back? Will I now think about going fishing this winter with Loon Lodge? Yes! Yes! Yes! Treat yourself and drop by, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it!

The location is ideal ; the owner , Doug, is a gentleman ; the grounds and waterfront are beautiful. The rooms are OK, but just. Old sofas and easy chairs clutter the space , they're junk and should all be sent to the dump ; likewise the window curtains, bed and kitchen linens have done their time and should be replaced. Our unit had tons of dog hair on the rugs so those are probably also past salvage. (much easier to clean hard floors.) The bed mattress in my room was surprisingly firm and comfortable ... but I'm glad to have brought my own sleeping bag and pillow. The kitchen is well equipped ; all the stuff you need for simple meals is there and relatively clean. The fridge worked well as did the stove top burners. The shared BBQ is an older model and it works just fine. The bathroom was OK , lots of hot water ; the towels seemed clean. Some two bedroom units include a bedroom without windows . That doesn't seem right . The kitchen was closed , probably due to COVID. The docks are in good condition and with deep water ; there's a boat ramp right on the property . The boat service next door is handy for gassing up your boat. There's a municipal boat launch adjacent that business. And, they have free maps of the lakes . Doug was instrumental in protecting the old growth forest, and you will be remiss if you do not hike the trails ... super cool ... huge old trees and most interesting flora like many different orchids , and we even spotted the rare Indian Pipe . The location is away from the constant and loud highway noise in downtown Temagami . Noted is that Doug's spouse passed away last winter and he is now running the place alone. He's doing a yeoman's job, but he is aging and he should hire up some help.

Great ice fishing getaway! Carl and Chris took great care of us. The huts were well set up and ready to go. We stayed in a well equipped motel unit and it was awesome. And we caught fish! Don’t hesitate to spend your winter vacation here. You won’t be disappointed!
