Our guide was very good. He has tons of information and fun facts on the city. Tour was very manageable from a walking perspective. One stop at the 2nd horse statue park was too long. While the guide provided great info on various local laws. The stop was too long to stand there. The biggest challenge was we had a big group and he really need a nuke with a speaker box. He did his best to talk to the group but it was a bit difficult but not imposible to hear well. Other than that he did a great job. I was disappointed though in some of those in the group .. after a 2 hour tour they gave such small tips ... if you are visiting URUGUAY from North America you are not hurting for money. The tour was free so make sure you tip your guide accordingly. Especially when the cruise ships were charging US$80 per person for the same tour!!! Give and you will receive !

Club Hotel Casapueblo is located in Punta Ballena, 15km west of Punta del Este. We designed this Sightseeing, Art & Cultural tour specifically for you in mind. You will get to see amazing artwork by multifaceted artist Carlos Paez Viralo. His meeting with Pablo Picasso in France inspired him to try his hand at pottery and, upon his return to Uruguay, he founded the Ceramic Artisans Workshop. In Ecuador, he wove tapestries with the Otavalo Indians. In Tahiti, he produced his collection of wraparound shawls for the native women on the island. In Washington, D.C, in 1960, he painted his “Roots of Peace” mural, then considered to be the longest in the world. He also left his mark in the form of a large mural in Dr. Albert Schweitzer’s leprosy hospital in Lambaréné. In Uruguay, he painted the sails of the “Capitán Miranda” naval training ship, police patrol cars, and the plane used by the national airline. He recorded several musical pieces and produced many films.

We may have gotten the last Wine Experience event for a while. Ryan Hamilton was able to move our event from a dinner to a lunch event as the hotel it was being held at was closing due to COVID-19! We moved our bus departure from Montevideo up by 3 hours to meet Ryan in Punta del Este. It all worked out even better than dinner would have, as there wouldn't have been a sunset because the clouds moved in while we were enjoying great wines, and wonderful foods, and a great conversation with Ryan. He is a consummate host and sommelier, and we benefited from his extensive experience in the hospitality and wine industries. We truly hope that he is able to offer his Experiences when Uruguay and other countries permit international travel again , because a Ryan Hamilton Wine Experience is well worth the money and not to be missed!
