Commerce keeps Nagoya’s downtown popping with life, but there’s more than just manufacturing to this industrial powerhouse. Nagoyans meet for plates of crisp-friend miso katsu; make weekend trips to nearby Shinto shrines; and count down the days to the city’s autumn Nagoya Festival.

The title can actually just speak for itself. I love that this hostel has its own elevator. I love that it offers free-flowing coffee, tea, apple juice, and miso soup. I love how well stocked the shower and powder rooms are. I love that it's just a few walks from Nagoya station, and with a 7-11 nearby. You bet that I'll stay here again when I return to Nagoya. Good job, guys!

トリップ&スリープホステルは、名古屋の大須にあるゲストハウスというスタイルの宿泊施設です。どなたでもお気軽にご宿泊いただけます!
They go above and beyond to help you, even when navigating the city. The living and bedroom areas are always immaculate. The hostel is also located in the central shopping and restaurant area and fairly close to Nagoya castle making it very convenient overall. It's a great hostel to spend a couple of nights.

Since it's located on a classical shopping street, guests can experience cozy local atmosphere and interact local people.
Friendly little hostel in a fabulous location in Nagoya - staff were so happy to see us and host us! We checked in early as the rooms were ready and got a welcome drink upon arrival. Four of us booked a family futon room which was very small but OK just for one night. The staff really made our experience lovely and we felt overall that it was good value for money. It is a very tiny hostel so only one bathroom upstairs for all of the guests and the cleanliness could have been improved in the bathroom and common area. Breakfast was optional for 500yen.

Otohaya Guest-House is the oldest running guest-house in Nagoya. In October 2016 it was purchased by a new owner, and is now in the process of a full-renovation to improve both facilities and activities available. Otohaya is welcome to all types of guests, and has both dormitories and private rooms available. Guests are welcome to relax in the common dining area as well as the comfortable `manga room` downstairs. In the commmon areas are board-games, video games, couches, instruments - we are well known for providing a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests from all around the world. We have japanese and english speaking staff available, as well as tourist information for the surrounding area. Situated in the centre of Nagoya, we are within walking distance of both Nagoya Station and Osu Kannon. If you like, we also have bicycles available for rental - so you can explore Nagoya at your own pace. Nagoya itself is a hub of Japan - sitting on the shinkansen line between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka, and also being the main gateway into places such as Takayama, Shirakawa-Go, and Kobe.
The location is alright. It takes about 15 to 25 minutes to walk from the Willerexpress bus stop or the railway station. The spaces are really small, for instance the living room is like a 'bunk bed' with two wooden floors on top of one another in front of a makeshift kitchen. There are lots of books. You have to pay extra for the gas, though. The laundry machines are on top of the roof. The bathrooms/showers are not the nicest to look at, creak and smell of sour cleaning stuff. All that being said, the people staying and working here were lovely and enjoyed their stay. The hostel as a charm of its own and there is a small cafe downstairs.
