I am very sad writing this review. We were very excited to visit camping fort bravo in Andalucia, but we had a number of issues with the place. I'll start by saying that the staff they have front of house are all very nice and friendly, they put on some really fun shows and seem to enjoy it. Unfortunately that's where the compliments of camping Fort Bravo stops. When I read that they haven't done anything to the place since it was built I didn't think that included general maintenance. Many of the buildings are near to collapsing this is not and exaggeration as there are acro supports holding up a number of buildings. The best and what seemed the only building to be properly maintained was the saloon. This is what we expected the whole place to be like. Some areas seem dangerous for example in the big Fort which seems to be no longer used for anything but you can walk around it even with its big sink hole where parts have collapsed into it. The area where you drive to the cabins is littered with abandoned vehicles, old maintenance equipment and what I guess is props. The Indian teepees are falling to bits, again just left with zero maintenance. This could be made into a brilliant area for people to visit. If they had been maintained properly they could have even been a fun place to spend the night in summer. There is zero lighting for driving around the area when you arrive back at your cabin /caravan after dark. There should be an automatic gate to allow guests who stay to enter and leave easily but instead it is a gate that the night guard must open and close by hand. We waited 10 minutes for him to come to the gate, we had called him before we even reached the gate. Now for the cabins. We stayed at the end of February in cabin 8, the weather turned really cold and there is no way to heat the rooms. The air conditioning only blows out cold despite turning it up to 30 degrees to try and get some heat coming through. We had to resort to putting the cooker hob on when we were up to warm us up a little. The drains were blocked! Every time water drains from the bathroom or kitchen sink the dirty water with old food, bubbles up into the shower tray, the smell is horrendous. When showering the shower tray fills with water. The beds are falling apart! The bunk bed literally had screws falling out and it bowed as soon as my daughter got in the top bunk. The double was described as a large double It is standard double size. Every time, one of us moved it felt and sounded like it was going to collapse. We had 2 very uncomfortable sleepless nights. There is no kettle, cups or toaster in the room. These are basic items required in a self catering room. For what we paid even out of season we could have had a very nice hotel or apartment close by. Now for the worst and saddest part. The horses!!! I cried because I didn't want to leave them in these conditions. You can walk around many of them and it is clear they haven't had their stables / stalls cleaned properly in a long time. They are standing in their own filth. It looks like new straw is just thrown on top of the wet dirty straw. This is bad for their feet and general health. These are the ones you can see as you walk around. We came across a big barn with stables in it, very small cramped stables. These are in the same condition as outside but its worse for the horses as they have absolutely no room to move. At least one has started weaving this is a really bad condition for horses caused by not being properly looked after. Boredom, lack of exercise, loneliness and bad diet being the causes of it. This particular horse could barely turn around in the stable it was that small. These are being treated as nothing more than circus animals. It is clear they don't get any exercise or time outside to roam in a paddock/exercise area as there wasn't one you could see. The ones used in the, shows are treated the best but even one of those was being ridden whilst it was limping on its back leg. They had ill fitting shoes. Many had scars on their faces. I believe that most of these issues are due to simple lack of dedicated experienced stable staff. There should be experienced staff who solely look after the horses. It seemed that the show cowboys were expected to cover many jobs and I suspect that one of these jobs is to care for all of the horses as well (because we never saw anyone else with them) which is an impossible task whilst having to do the shows and practice as well. And I wonder how experienced they are with horses to care for them all adequately. This is not the fault of the staff in any way but the fault of management for not hiring enough of or the appropriate staff to care for the horses and keep up the maintenance of the whole place. They must have more than enough revenue to pay for all these things between the money raised from the film/TV companies and the visitors. But it clearly doesn't get spent in the improvement of what has the potential to be an amazing place for visitors.

Guest rooms offer air conditioning, and Jardin del Desierto makes getting online easy as free wifi is available. While you’re here, be sure to check out Route 66, one of the restaurants in Tabernas with ribs on the menu, which is a short distance from Jardin del Desierto. The staff at Jardin del Desierto looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
This is a deceptive place as a very nicely decorated and comfortable b and b lies behind it's relatively small and central location. Fantastic and unassuming hosts who look after you without being too apparent, and find just the right times to offer a drink or make sure that everything is ok. The courtyard and pool have been squeezed in behind the property and it is relaxing and very quiet. Great little find. Enjoy

Strategically located at the heart of the town of Tabernas, Hostal Avenida offers you all the comfort at the best price. Our rooms are fully equipped and our staff ready to meet your needs so that you can enjoy the fabulous nature of our region, its culture and leisure activities. The beautiful XVI century church, which is visible from your rooms, is worth a visit as well as the Moorish castle that guards the town. Take a hike into the desert and enjoy the awesome landscape of the badlands, which is unique in Europe. Film lovers can also pay a visit to the Western thematic parks, which are located at less than 5 minutes from our Hostal, and feel like a character of their favourite movies. Hostal Avenida is also an ideal location for speed lovers, visiting the Almeria's track race (Circuito de Velocidad de Almeria) which is only 10 minutes away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants very close by where you can taste our local specialities, the beautiful Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar with its wild beaches is also only 45 kilometres away.
Clean and tidy basic accommodation, an ideal base for touring the area. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Finding a parking space close by can be a bit 'hit and miss' so we opted for a 5min walk to either the public carpark or easy on street parking. The hostal has no facilities but there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk offering everything from coffee to tapas or menu of the day. (La Dalia gastro pub is definitely worth a visit!) The town of Tabernas is ideally situated not only for the nearby 'Western' attractions but also for Almeria, the several nature parks in the region and the many, as yet, unspoilt beaches and coves. If you don't fancy driving into Almeria, then there is a local bus service which takes about 40mins to the main bus depot. Only downside was a slight, but noticeable smell of drainage from the bathroom, however we later discovered that the problem appeared to be with the public sewer rather than the hostal itself! Overall the hostal represents excellent value for money and is thoroughly recommended.

We arrived around 7pm, after having stopped at Route 66 for a light refreshment (if you love cars & retro, I totally recommend you stop here) We were greeted by the lovely Max (the dog) & welcomed in by Christine & Bernard. This place is essentially their home, in which they have 3 rooms for guests. So not a hotel, more B&B but it suited us for the one night. The place is stunning & very clean & comfortable. We were shown our to room, which had a massive bathroom & private outside table/chairs where you can sit/smoke/drink. Once we were shown around, Christine offered us a beer & glass of wine. She then took our details & asked if we would like breakfast in the morning. We said yes but she then explained that it was CASH ONLY. We said we didn’t have any cash & asked 3 times if there was an ATM around. We kind of guessed there wasn’t as it is the Desert. But still no answer. Both of their personas changed once they realised we didn’t have any cash. We didn’t even receive our ‘complimentary’ bottle of water for our room. Just aswell we had a large bottle in the back of our car. The shower was glorious & towels, body wash, shampoo provided for. We packed our things & said our goodbyes. Wouldn’t stay again as not really for us, but it suited our needs for the night, as was 11mins drive from the Wild West Studios (Thoroughly recommend Oasys MiniHollywood)

Situated on the main road through Tabernas, the Hostal El Puente is a great location for visiting the local Western cowboy towns and film locations. The hotel, room and bar were very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and excellent wi-fi. The staff were very friendly and helpful, some spoke English which was a bonus in a typically Spanish town. The bar downstairs was an added bonus, tostada for breakfast, the tapas and menu del noche were very good and reasonable – we ate here for the 3 nights and both enjoyed a different meal each night. Unfortunately for us the only thing that let it down was the 24hrs of rain, but that isn’t the hotels fault, however as a result we’ll have to go back to Tabernas and we certainly know where we’ll be staying

The couple that runs it are really nice (if you speak spanish, not sure they speak english) + nice big stone house with more room then we needed. Nice fire with all the wood we wanted. Kitchen could of used a sharper knife, and little things like no pot-holders or kettle.

Really big rooms with an extra wee cloakroom type thing which is handy if your staying with someone who snores! Beer is €2 a pint. We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but the breakfast was fine for €4, although you didn't always ken what they were going to bring out. Usually bacon, fried eggs, cold meats, baguettes etc. Staff friendly.
