Nice Baja Style Hotel / Good Location

Spent one night (Saturday). Had a top floor room. Was clean and in good condition. Your basic Baja hotel, nothing fancy. A few blocks off the Malecon so relatively quiet. The restaurant had live music but as our room was at the rear of the hotel, not an issue. Would stay here again.

Hotel San Felipe de Jesus

Hotel San Felipe now operating as Mena Flyfishing (Not Tarpon Cay anymore)

Hotel was fine, older and nothing glamorious. Food and staff were excellent. The only thing that we didn't care for was that Phili the head of the kitchen gave us envelopes with predetermined gratuity amounts. Some were nearly as much as the cost of the meals. The amounts were high by US standards. The fishing and scenery was fantastic. You can book directly with the Hotel. Ask for the Ala Cart option as it is the same service but at almost a third of the all inclusive price. The services are the same as far as I can tell. A day of guided fishing cost varied from $180-300 US but I think others were paying even more, especially on the package price which I think was $500 a day, out of this the guide only gets paid about $80 a day. I hope to go back again soon.

Clean, comfortable and well appointed. On site restaurant was not available on our day. Although we departed prematurely i want to give very high marks to the reception staff who were extremely warm and courteous. We left early to find accomodations closer to the sea

Security measures not taken properly

My kid was stuck in high tide, when asked for help hotel staff responded "ours is not five star hotel to maintain security measures",It was by God's Grace one of their employee offered help on his own ,with whom's help my husband brought back my kid. Being locals there, awareness and help should be offered to tourists, which is missing sadly.Being in Mexico from past seven years, first time I have seen someone who was so reckless towards people's life.Terrible experience.
