A basic overnight hotel before catching the ferry. The half board option is good value and avoids having to go looking for somewhere to eat. Free on site parking. Don’t expect luxury but it’s clean and comfortable and the double glazing keeps out the road noise. There’s a kettle in the room but the tea/coffee on offer was undrinkable so it would be wise to bring your own.

This is a fairly ordinary hotel south of st malo with large clean rooms and gated parking - so only if you have transport. Within simple and easy reach of st malo centre or the ferry port. Good value and a good value breakfast. Nothing fancy, but great value for what you pay, for an overnight stay or just a few days. We would stay here again.

Room too small for three people. Tiny toilet. A bulkier person cannot take a shower. The shower, which is already tiny, has the shower hose running through the cabin, making showering even more difficult. There is no space to store luggage or clothes, apart from a very small table

This handsome manoir in big peaceful walled gardens has been lovingly restored by Claude, who speaks six languages, and equally well-travelled Agnes; both are charming and gregarious. Theirs is a fascinating house dating from 1510, with French windows opening to a south-facing terrace and a salon lined with rich oak panelling; relax by the blazing fire. Bedrooms, comfortable, traditional and up two sets of stairs, are dominated by dark ships' timbers; the port of St Malo is close, so are golden sand beaches. Breakfast is served beneath the chandelier. Marvellous.
The hosts are wonderfully simple people who welcome their guests with warmth and care. Location itself is romantic, beautiful and has an authentic charm. House is equiped with a beautiful lounge and a enormous garden that guests are encouraged to use as their own. Garden is perfect if you have children. Our daughter loved running around the garden with the chickens and petting the family dog. Overall, the experiance was so much more than we hoped for.

Stayed here 4 nights in the Hul'hotes / Guest house, a sort of large garden shed. Billed as sleeping 4 it had inadequate facilities for that number. The mezzanine proved to be a crawl space with steeps steps up to it, a small porthole window which didn't open, a mattress on the floor, not a bed, and an industrial type wall light. Fine for kids, not adults. The hut had only one straightback wooden chair and a small table. The only way of getting air into the hut was to open the two windows, which at night wasn't feasible because of flying insects. The terrace was a tiny space with a wooden table and 4 wood chairs. Fortunately the weather was quite good and we were able to sit outside until nightfall. We had been told that we were able to use the lounge in the house, but on 2 nights the family were using it for their own guests, the 'garden lounge' is a few chairs in the shade. The terrace and (private) pool were clearly family space & we were not encouraged to use them. It was helpful that we had French speakers in our party as the host's English did not seem strong. The male host was quite amiable, but the female blew hot and cold. Good points - comfortable beds, clean if basic bathroom, help with getting to bus stop and information about locality. Lovely setting of property, though no views from hut. We thought that this was a work in progress, but realised that the hosts had run a larger hostelry for many years. It seemed that this B and B was about servicing the development of their home rather than one catering to the needs of guests. Improvement needed!
