This charming hotel is member of "Chateaux & Hotels de Collection", is located on the border of the Robertville lake in the natural reserve of "Les Hautes Fagnes". Take a break, relax yourself in our brand new spa NUXE, enjoy an gastronomic diner facing the lake and appreciate a sweet night in a cosy bed.
We were looking for a quiet spot with a nice spa, where we could have a getaway for a few days and enjoy long walks in the area. The hotel seemed to match those criteria perfectly well. Even though we stayed there during the week, the price seemed to be quite high (more like a 5-star hotel somewhere in a city), however we expected something that would justify it. On the first day of arrival we asked for some hiking tips/map, instead we were briefly explained where to go, which turned out to be a bit of a disaster and not all suitable for walks. The next unpleasant surprise was the dinner - way overpriced (but WAY), the portions were miniscule - and on top it wasn't good at all - meaning the pasta was overcooked and so on. The next surprise waited at the spa - while it's quite a nice set-up and you have it all to yourself for one hour, they don't clean between different time slots - meaning the people who were there before us just left the door open for us and there was nobody (LITERALLY) from the hotel staff visible inside (the same was the next 2 days). The next surprise was breakfast - it was included in our room rate (otherwise you have to pay 14EUR per person) - in return you can choose musli or cornflakes, a yogurt, a juice (not fresh) and a hot drink. And you get a piece of bread and a croissant (not the quality you expect for the price you pay). Eggs (in whatever form) come at an extra cost. Another surprise was with cleaning. We were not told upfront that there is no cleaning whatsoever (of course it's COVID and everything, however it's difficult to understand why for instance towels couldn't be changed or at least the trash bin taken out). As the trash bin was maximum 5L, of course the next day we were flooded with trash that we had no clue where to put, so we had to take it out ourselves, to go and see if somebody could give us dry towels and so on. Overall it was a disappointment. Like big time. When you pay some 600EUR for 3 nights during the week (not holiday season), excluding dinners, you have certain expectations, which were not met here.

A small beautiful hotel in a quiet location with a very good restaurant. Lady at reception was friendly and welcoming. We got a spacious and elegant double room, which looked freshly renovated. Bed was very comfortable with a high quality bed linen. Big flat TV in the room, but, sadly, no fridge. Bathroom is also renovated, and has everything you may need. Breakfast was nice, continental, with tasty homemade cakes, but nothing special. Dinner was just amazing. They offer a set menu with two choices for a starter, soup, main course and a desert, you can take all the courses, or just some of them, price will differ. All the plates were beautiful, and the food fresh and delicious, very close to a Michelin starred restaurant. Sadly, the restaurant seems to be open only for dinner (7 to 9 pm), and not lunch. There is a nice lounge area next to the restaurant, with some books, games, and a big TV. Behind the hotel is a big lawn with a lake view and some sun loungers. Steep slope is leading down to the lake, but we didn't find a path and couldn't get down to the water. Castle Reinhardstein is in a walking distance from the hotel. To get to the castle, you can follow the right side of the road in the direction of the dam (lake), it will turn into a dirt road, and then into a forest path. Follow the road through the forest (there will be pastures on your right-hand side), and when you reach a small crossroad with a picnic table, take the left path, which will decent to the castle. We found that that's the easiest way and it takes 20 to 25 minutes to reach the castle from the hotel. Do not miss it, as it's definitely worth a visit!

Esther and Fred were extremely welcoming and friendly. We were tired and wet when we arrived having cycled from Aachen. We left feeling reborn!! Excellent breakfast and they also cooked us a hot meal when we arrived. It was sooo nice - like a homestay. I would totally recommend this place.

zelden meegemaakt. Tip : gewoon laten staan. Verder zeer behulpzaam Een sterke aanrader
