We are a small yurt camp that offers an exotic safari type experience in one of our two comfortable and stylish yurts. Set on south facing terraces, on the edge of woodland, the calls of nearby dear and owls can be heard often while gazing into the stars from the veranda of your yurts - breathe deep and let go! Licence number 91145/AL
Helped by a dry, sunny weather, we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the yurt. Were it to rain the experience might be spoiled by mud in the unkept ground surrounding it and the danger associated with an access through a very rough stone path/steps which will surely become very slippery. The facilities are ok, but seem to have seen better days and to have been cleaner...once. Peace and quiet galore, could be much improved with very little effort. Nice try, though and good location!

A charming, quaint and friendly guesthouse in a village, seemingly in the middle of nowhere! The buildings are old farm buildings which have been modernised internally but retaining their external rustic charm. As such they are not all connected. This establishment is approached by a cobbled road which is motor able. The main reception/dining/kitchen building in particular is rustic but has modern cons and inside it is almost like a museum. We were welcomed in this building with several drinks including Port. Once we had settled down, a lady from the village called Fatima showed us how to make bread, getting one of us to knead the dough. While the bread was proving we went down to a barn and milked the Goats. Fatima then showed us how cheese was made. The bread went into a real bread oven. Later that night we had a great dinner which included our cheese and bread, lots of other dishes and more wine. Breakfast next morning was equally good. The rooms were of different sizes but modernised and clean. There was a good outdoor pool. Our hosts were charming and hovered around to ply us with more food and wine. A very lovely experience..

Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Pleasant bathrooms. Good view from the room. Good breakfeast. I booked the hostel thinking it was in Coimbra city. It is in Penela, 30km from Coimbra city. It was a nice surprise. Penela is a friendly village with a beautiful castle. It just happened to have a medieval fair goin on on that weekend. Pedra Ferida waterfall, a 12 minutes drive from the hostel, is mandatory for those who enjoy hiking.

TERRIBLE!!! They just want your money and don't care about guests wellbeing at all. I noticed a few problems with this place but as we were only there for one night chose to ignore them. That is until I came to use the communal shower. The glass sliding door was a little wonky so was extra careful with it and tried to stop the water going out of the shower. I was about to get out but as I slid the door open it completely shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces showering me with glass and leaving me with cuts all over my body! After getting all the glass out of my body and getting first aid I tried to contact the guest house staff on the several numbers provided - no answer. I eventually got through to someone later in the day and was told they would get back to me....they didn't. After much chasing on the phone they asked us to come back to the guest house to discuss it. We thought they might offer some good will gesture but no, all they said was that they wouldn't charge us for the damage! Couldn't they have told us this on the phone!? They didn't ask if I was ok and offered no apology whatsoever. Apart from this awful experience there were several faulty and dirty items. This is by far the worst experience I've had from a so called guest house. We would have been better off sleeping in the car!!
