Luz del Mar Hotel

Really a special hotel for nature and hiking lovers - the 4-Star-hotel Luz del Mar located in the northwest of Tenerife. Smaller one- or two-storey units, built in the countryside's typical style, grouped round a green area with a heated swimming-pool. Rural accommodation, high-quality standard and individual service. There are no comparable hotels in this wonderful region of Tenerife.

Very nice hotel but

only for people with good mobility. Our first issue was the climb to our room, 95 steps, which is the equivalent of 7 floors. Yes our bags were delivered but we still had to do the climb every time we came back to the hotel (only 60 steps from the restaurant & pool). The room was great, the pool is great, the gardens are great, but to be blunt it's very dull. No kind of entertainment at all. No English TV channels, yet there are at least 6 German channels. But the biggest gripe for me was the bar being closed in the evening. The publicity photos show a welcoming friendly bar to enjoy a drink after dinner, but it was closed. I asked the waiter if it was going to open, 'no' his one word answer. 'Never?' I asked, 'no' his complete response. On our way out we mentioned it to the man on reception, and he said it should be open, and started to phone someone. But we asked him not to bother, who wants to go in an empty bar that they've had to open specially. However there is a friendly locals bar 200m up the road, so not a complete disaster. Cocktails by the pool were delicious but €7.50 each, bottled water is extortionate at €3.30. Breakfast is OK but again geared to Germans, so don't expect a full English. Eggs 4 ways (boiled 5 mins, 8 mins, fried and scrambled) but no bacon or beans etc. In summary, a decent hotel, catering to Spanish and Germans guests with good mobility. Think twice if you want a more 'fun' hotel, and definitely not child friendly (no kids pool, no swings or playthings etc)

Our hotel is located in the hills of Los Silos, within an agricultural landscape of breathtaking beauty. At its feet, the incomparable natural setting of La Isla Baja, corner of the island known to marvel travellers from all over the world with its colours and fertility. If this is what you want....

This is a delightfully situated rural hotel with very obliging and friendly hosts. The apartment was charming, spacious and clean with comfortable beds. There was all you need for basic cooking, and a standard sized fridge. The village is small, the local bar is OK but a bit limited, so if you want "bling" or nightlife, this is not for you. The views down the valley to the sea are lovely, the whole experience is clean and fresh. This is excellent walking country - an official footpath starts right by the gate - and there are plenty of great routes within easy driving distance. There is a small natural pool at Los Silos (near a large municipal one) which is great for a swim and a snorkel - lots of fish. Our room as neither cold nor damp, though did have a slightly musty smell on arrival due, I think, to no window or fixed ventilation in the bathroom. It soon went.` This hotel should not be judged by the standards of large beach/swimming pool hotels. It has a different offer, and if it's for you, then, like us, you will want to come again.

Excellent house and superb location

This was our second stay at this rural house in the small village of Erjos. The owner responds very quickly to emails. The town is very small and it is not near the tourist area of Los Cristianos, but it is charming and very quiet. The location is excellent for hiking since you can walk from the house to the trailhead. The trails are long, well sign posted and the surroundings and Laurisilva vegetation are gorgeous. There are 2 houses that share a small patio but they are independent and fairly private. Our house was the one bedroom house and it was good size (living room, room and kitchen as well as a bathroom). Very pretty house old style Canary Island house. Comfortable sofas in the living room, good WIFI, heaters (these are turn on at certain time in the evening and go off in the morning). The kitchen had everything we needed to cook out meals. Bread is delivered to the house every morning (free of charge). This location is higher in elevation and it is less sunny than the areas lower down. This area is also more cloudy and therefore cooler and moister. The owner's family also owns the restaurant bar nearby and you can get meals there. You can eat there or you can take the food home which is what we did and enjoyed a great paella for two. Check the hours wit the owner. This is a very small town. so there are no supermarkets here. If you are planning to cook it is best to buy your groceries closer to Los Cristianos as you come up. The price is very reasonable considering you are getting a beautiful house in a great location. Keep in mind that you can pay a partial deposit online and at the rest you pay cash or send a wire prior to your arrival. Good private parking is also a plus. I would definitely return.

Coral Los Silos

Nice but…..

Reviewed By lazydaysagain

Lovely well equipped and large apartment but in a strange location. There are houses nearby and it is on a main road, but there is only 1 restaurant within walking distance in the evening which was ok. Lacks the Canarian village experience we were hoping for as it is not in Los Silos. Need a car to go anywhere- which we had. Secure parking was good We probably wouldn’t return as there is nowhere to go in the evening unless you drive. The surrounding area of Buenavista del Norte is lovely

Finca Amarilla

Fantastic!

Reviewed By Martwinther

We spent 5 days at Finca Casa Amarilla. A great place to disconnect and enjoy the peace and quiet atmosphere. And yes, the property is literally located in the middle of a banana plantation, which adds a really nice touch to the place. We could hear nothing but the wind in the palm leaves and the birds singing. Peaceful and exactly what we were looking for, to disconnect from the everyday city noise we have back home. The Casa has a real nice old classic mood with old pieces of art and decorations brought here during the colonial times. Staying here is a time-travel in a way if you like. Arriving here is quite impressive as well, finding our way to the gate through the narrow high-walled road into the midst of the plantation, where the house is located. We were met with a smiling Carlos who led us to the room. No other guests in sight. We felt we were the only once visiting, which gave us another minor first impression thrill in this old colonial, yet well preserved home. We received room number 1, which we believe is the biggest one in the house. It has two huge rooms, and a spacious bathroom. Everything in classical style. Please see pictures below of what view met us by arrival. BUT, there is a big BUT! And a thing we believe Carlos should take care of. And that is the odour and smell in the rooms. In our nr 1 for sure. A smell which, if you are used to moist and ageing houses, will not bother you, but did indeed bother us to a certain degree. We even did consider shortening the stay to just that one night. It is certainly a sign of mildew and mold within the walls etc. Even the sofa was not feeling dry thanks to that. Having old furniture of course also brings all kinds of old odours/smells. You can argue it is a part of the experience, but there are ways to fix these kind of things. So that was quite a bummer as a first impression, despite the fantastic place it is. And luckily we were not planning to stay in the room during the days, so we decided to stay, because even the most critic and sensitive noses can get used to certain levels of unpleasent odours obviously.:) But Carlos, still we recommend to consider a check. We enjoyed the rest of the stay very much. The breakfast was ok, nice little touch with the friendly ladies offering hot meals through an open glass window. The restaurants close-by are not many. It's better to take the car the 7-10 minute drive to Garachico. There you can find several charming places to eat. AND if you like to swim, the natural lava pools in Garachico are really worth visiting. It became our favourite place to get a fresh dip. The weather on this side of the island is not as sunny as in the south, so be prepared. Wind and clouds in May did make us put on additional layers of clothing. In general we recommend the Finca Casa Amarilla if you like to escape from tourist crowds and disco noise, and simply just enjoy silence, style and atmosphere. Service here is great. Always with a smile and a no problem attitude.

7. Casa La Moringa

Calle Canape 11, 38470 Los Silos, Tenerife Spain
Casa La Moringa

CASA LA MORINGA is in the historical center of the quiet village of Los Silos. The location is very convenient for hikers. This original Canarian House dates to the 18 th century and has been restored with great care and affection. The property is in the idyllic village of Los Silos, far away from any mass tourism. Rest assured that this village has no “swinging nightlife”. You will do your shopping in the same shops as the local people, and you will be on the beaches and in the restaurants amongst the locals. We rent out the ground floor, it has two bedrooms with double beds and each bedroom has its own private bathroom. From the "open" kitchen, with microwave oven, refrigerator, water kettle and coffee machine, you can enjoy the beautiful historical-listed patio. Enjoy beautiful Tenerife with its mild climate, the imposing nature, the pleasant beaches and feel at home and enjoy the peace and quiet at CASA LA MORINGA.
