Great Hotel and restaurant

Reviewed By lizd42115

We had a large group of people staying here, all of our rooms were spotlessly clean and mainly spacious, the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, the views of the river from the lawns were an absolute treat. We l ate at the restaurant - everything was freshly cooked, tasty and good value for money, a good menu and wine list - would highly recommend we are already planning a return next year.

Amazing stay at The Plough. Staff were so friendly, looked after us really well. Room was immaculately clean, bed was so comfy! And shower was powerful and hot. We had a beautiful meal, cooked with care and the breakfast next day was outstanding. Would highly recommend.

The Swan Inn

Very disappointing

Reviewed By loopysue1

After booking this B&B we were informed that there would be no breakfast due to there not being a chef. We booked this hotel because of the reviews for the dining so we could also have our evening meal. We were informed at a later date that didn’t allow us the opportunity to book elsewhere. They gave us details of places to eat which we used and would recommend Vera’s kitchen was excellent and we wished we had managed to book to stay there. The new inn for our evening meal was good though my dessert was disappointing We returned to have a drink at the swan to find it deserted on a Saturday night not a soul was in there so we returned to our room. The room was basic with tea and coffee provided but no toiletries and I’m not sure if there was a hair dryer so you might need to bring your own. I think the place might have been good at one time but has sadly declined in recent times

Outstanding

What an absolute gem of a place, spotlessly clean, full of character - millionaires shortbread waiting in the room, Netflix and WiFi - it was stunning. But let me tell you about breakfast.. Simply the best breakfasts I have ever tasted - first day, sourdough toast with scrambled egg, spinach and smoked cheese, the second day home made waffle , bacon and maple butter!! I was there for work but it all felt like a holiday. The owners were great sending me info and letting me park in the “keep clear “ in front of the courtyard. And everyone was super friendly.. I will be back

booking May 2022

in May 2022 I tried to book there nights in June 2022. My wife sand I needed somewhere to stay while our water and electricity were cut off as our house is being renovated. The hotel's management company took my money and confirmed the booking. Then they phoned - after two failed attempts I made to contact them by phone - to say the rooms weren't available. They still have not managed to confnirm alternative accommodation in another hotel nearby. My advice is not to trust the booking system, and not to expect timely response from those in charge currently.

Great Stay

Reviewed By Wellsyboyred09

This was a place found whilst browsing the internet and looking for property in the area. It's a lovely spot positioned right alongside the Thames and provides a great stop off even if one is just passing through Lechlade. I booked for two nights at a very reasonable rate and stayed in a cosy twin room situated opposite the pub and within the car park. The accommodation was nice and warm inside and offered everything a hotel room would provide including plenty of tea and coffee making facilities along with a range of shampoos and bath soaps should you require them. Currently breakfast arrangements only extend during part of the week so do check beforehand though there are other places within Lechlade that are open. Overall, a great place to stay and particularly so i would imagine, in the spring and summer months.

The Lakes by Yoo

Some aspects are great some definitely not......

Reviewed By Athlete1970

We stayed at the Huntsman Lake house which on first impressions looks lovely and is as good as the pictures - we did unfortunately have a few maintenance issues, which included two running loos that needed fixing a collapsed curtain rail (which meant for the three nights that we were there there were no curtains for the night time) and on our last day no water for the morning - all the issues apart from the curtains were fixed - apparently the owner of the property had been sent a couple of quotes to fix it properly but hadn't comeback to Lakes by Yoo to agree on a price to fix it - not what you really expect when you're paying quite a lot of money to rent a property! I have to say thought the staff were lovely and as helpful as they could be! They offered us a free meal in the little onsite restaurant (set in a teepee tent) a little uninspiring, menu not great, damp and smelly (we were sat near some drains and offered some Fabreeze for when the smell got too bad, and I'm not joking...!) again the staff were lovely and couldn't be faulted, but not what you want when you're looking forward to a nice lunch!!! We are not overly fussy people and whilst the maintenance issues were a pain and not what you expect from this level of rental property we could deal with it, but for me what I don't agree with is that I think you are misled when you book. You see a beautiful lake with plenty of activities on it, but you only find out when you book that the lake is now closed until March - you might think that they would let you know this before you book. They advertise a zip wire and climbing wall, which was closed from the Monday to Thursday we were there, but for the small price of £190 you could rent it! Guests are only allowed to use the spa from 1400 until 1700, which is fine, but I think you should also know this before you book as it's a pretty small window when you're paying nearly £700 a day to rent - oh yes and you have to pay £60 (non-refundable to be shown around the spa. Check in is not until 1600 but you have to check out by 1600....! It is a beautiful setting, but would we go again? No! It seems as if it is very set up for the owners, not the guests who are renting and spending plenty of money to do so!!
