We returned to my grandparent's village in mid-July 2016 for a 5-day stay, and thankfully, chose to stay at this B&B -- a 200 year old renovated farmhouse in the quiet back hills of Bettola. Chose the quadruple room in a half-pension format for the 3 of us (spacious, modern, clean). Best of all were our gracious hosts (Anna-headmaster, her husband Enrico, and worker Valerio) who all served us their superbly delicious home made meals using foods in their organic garden. There was no better place than to sit on the terrace on a warm evening trying local specialties for dinner (coppa, pancetta hams, tortellini pasta, home made bread, etc). The only challenge was getting to our B&B using a dirt road up hill (be patient, drive slowly). Also, bring an Italian phrase book, as your hosts are Italian speakers. Enjoy the hotel's small indoor pool to cool off after a warm day, but the pool may be more suited to Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. The local Val Nure area has lots to offer. In Bettola, visit the market on Monday mornings, and have lunch at the Agnello restaurant (pool and playground near river). In nearby Pradello is Christopher Columbus' birth house ( check hours). Lots of wineries to visit north in Vigolzone (Romagnoli and La Tosa). Don't miss the medieval villages of Grazzano Visconti and Castel d'Arquato, and Piacenza's historic downtown.

If you’re looking for things to do, you can check out Luogo dell'Apparizione della Beata Vergine della Quercia (1.2 mi), which is a popular attraction amongst tourists, and it is within walking distance. Villa le Noci is sure to make your visit to Bettola one worth remembering.
It's located in the middle of nowhere with a nice view of the mountains. It has a pool and parking is available on site. Beware for the pothole when driving up. Not suited for low cars. Breakfast is good with bread and freshly baked cake. Wi-Fi was not working and this was not mentioned in our previous contact. The Ppol is full of large spiders, maybe normal in the area but not very pleasant. Very small room and no air-conditioning available. Bad pillows so bring your own. In fairness, the host said I could leave again, but it was too late to drive anywhere else. I booked this place to relax in the sun and prepare my trip for the coming days. But in my trip of 2 weeks this was the worst experience for 160 EURO. Cash payment only. The other 2 rooms cost 190 & 220 EURO and are bigger.
