Had a lovely stop over at this hotel. We had a suite with balcony with view of the Biergarten. The suite was very spacious and had everything we needed. Dinner was lovely and we had breakfast in our room so we could have it on the balcony. Staff were friendly and the hotel itself has a lovely interior with a nice courtyard. The historic town of Berching is worth a visit and we enjoyed our stay a lot.

Hotel service was superb. I was having one night in this lovely town. My plane in Munich was late so I was coming to hotel around midnight. I was expected and guided to park my car in narrow streets. A late beer after missing the road. Room was clean but design kind of not fitting to house. Wifi was very slow in the room but ok on restaurant floor. Town itself is worth to visit especially when they have an annual market in Feb.

This is a truly comfortable hotel with a nice staff. The rooms are clean and you can dine outside on the beautiful terrace. The cosy, small town of Berching is on the other side of the canal. We enjoyed our stay in these beautiful surroundings.

Because my first hotel was closing for vacation, I had to move to a different hotel for a few nights. The staff in the Altstadthotel Winkler war extremely friendly and accommodated me right away. My room was large, but on the ground floor, meaning I could not leave the window open like I wanted to (at night or when I was out of the room for a few hours). Also, the wall could have used a fresh coat of paint, especially on top of the large heaters. At night, the room was very dark, as the lights were too few and a bit outdated. The bathroom, too, was very large but not very functional. The white floor tile dirtied fast, the provided hair dryer was so worn out that I didn't want to use it, and the towel rack was too far from the shower door to reach it without first getting out of the shower. There were no towel warmers, but good functioning, warm room heaters to make the room feel cozy at night. The breakfast buffet was excellent, even though the boiled eggs were left cold in a large, uncovered bowl. The breakfast room was pleasantly decorated in local fashion with wooden benches and chairs, but not very comfortable to sit on. When I came back to the hotel the first night, the house was locked and my room key didn't fit the house door. Fortunately there was a temporary note with a phone number to call, and I could loan a cell phone from a passer-by to make the call. I had to wait about 10 minutes outside in the cold, before someone came to unlock the door. If I had been in my room, I would not have been able to exit the hotel through the front door in case of an emergency! The next morning, I was given a house key, and sure enough, the next night the hotel was locked again! Also, on the second day, my room was not cleaned and there was nobody to complain to, as the restaurant was closed and the note with the phone number had disappeared from the house door. One good thing was the internet, which was fast, reliable and secured with an individual password for each guest. If I would stay there again, I would immediately ask for a house key and for a room on the upper floors, as the hotel has a lift and therefore all rooms would be easy to reach.

I stayed here for one night during a businesstrip. Because I arrived on a Wednesday (their restday) I could collect my key via a locker next to the back door. It worked fine in my opinion. The room itself was basic but clean. The shower was comfortable but probably not for people over 1,75 due to the ceiling height. My bed I liked the least because it was very hard. My pillow on the other hand was really really soft. Due to that I didn’t sleep to well. The breakfast was okay. Basic, but enough choice for me. The staff was friendly.

St Gregor is a monastery dating back 1000 years. We stayed in a twin room with basin and separate bathroom. Spacious clean a modem. Dinner and breakfast are refectory style as expected in such a place. Food plentiful and good value. Excellent food shop on site and a Biergarten selling their own brews. Such a pleasant change from regular accommodation. I would like to stay longer. Overall good value and peaceful
