Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the Race Hut, as we booked the venue for an international group of colleagues, made up of men and women from a handful of backgrounds and cultures. Charles and the team made sure the event ran smoothly, from the initial welcome and briefing to the podium ceremony at the end. A clean & comfortable environment, and a fully stocked bar helped as well! Highly recommended.

Thirsty Meeples

Thirsty Meeples is the UK's first (and continues to be the greatest) board game café. We have a collection of over 2,600 board games available to play. Classic, Children's, Strategy, Abstract, Family, Two-Player, Fantasy & Adventure, Party, Dice and Card games. More games are added every week. For your fee you get three hours during which you can play as many games as you like! There is a cover charge of £6 For Adults, £5 For Children aged 12 and under. Our staff called Game Gurus can help with choosing games from our collection and explaining the rules. We provide a full table service with a range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes and snacks. Now of course we sell board games too and if there is something specific you're looking for just give us a ring and we'll let you know if it's available! We're open Monday to Friday 11am to midnight (dependant on business), Saturday 9am to midnight, Sunday 9am to 11pm.

We love this Boardgames cafe, they fund their huge collection of games by the per-person cover charge, though it’s a fixed rate for 3 hours of gaming, so come prepared to stay a while as you have the same chage even if you’ll only be there an hour. The food is simple (sandwiches or sausage rolls mainly) and the drinks are lovely though not cheap... but you’re paying to keep the place running and it’s a great way to try out new games. I took my eight year old, we had a great time and played three different games in the time we were there. They have adapted well to Covid rejigging, the games are “quarantined” after use and there was hand sanitiser about, the shop and loos were very clean. They also have a bigger venue which makes spacing out easier. The only slight issue was they had only one games “guru” on duty (weekday) and the new rules meant you weren’t allowed to swap games youself, which meant a delay when he physically couldn’t be in two places at once. but we had a great time and will happily come again, it felt safe to visit. Thanks guys!
