North East is a borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States, 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Erie in the northernmost part of the state, and the county's northeastern corner. Fruit growing was an early economic endeavor, and is still to this day, as this is a popular area for especially cherries and grapes. There is an annual Cherry Festival in the summer and an annual Wine Country Harvest Festival in the fall. It contains one college, Mercyhurst North East. The population was 4,294 at the 2010 census, down from 4,601 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Erie Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the northernmost town in Pennsylvania. The name "North East" seems to be a misnomer since the borough is located in extreme northwestern Pennsylvania, but it is so named for its northeastern-most location within Erie County.

Penn Shore is located at the center of Pennsylvania's grape-growing Lake Erie shoreline, just a few minutes' drive from Interstate 90 along picturesque Route 5. We offer wine tastings year round and tours during the summer months and winefest. We also host our yearly summer concert series "Music in the Vineyards" featuring live music on the back patio every Saturday in July and August from 5-9pm. Admission and parking are free, with food vendors on-site, non-alcoholic beverages and of course wine (and beer) for sale. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit back and relax with. (No outside beverages permitted.) There's always something fun happening at the winery, so stop in and see us!
The hostess was extremely friendly and explained the various alcohol related rules in PA and NY during the pandemic. The bottles are reasonably priced and the patio is very quiet and relaxing. When we purchased two bottles to go, she asked if we wanted a cardboard case to keep the bottles from clinking together (as we had discussed picking up bottles at other wineries). I highly recommend a pit stop to anyone that is in the area

My wife and I have stopped at Arundel Cellars twice during the last six months when travelling in the neighborhood. Their wine shop offers affordable tastes ($2.00 for 6) of excellent wine but we wish they would rebate the tasting fee if you spend more than $30.00 on their wine afterwards. If you are on a wine tour, a stop at Arundel is essential. While there, pick up a bottle of Time-Keepers Port before launching your time machine somewhen else.

In our post-covid world we took a trip to Mazza on a weekday and it was great. Due to new restrictions, you do have to purchase food and be seated in order to order wine but it was nice. The wine was great, they have proper safety protocols in effect and the vineyards themselves were beautiful. The ice wine was SWEET but unique and delicious.

No agrarian fan of viticulture and aenology should miss Arrowhead Wine Cellars when touring this northwestern corner of the keystone state. There is a wide selection of wines in all ranges from dry to sweet, reds, whites, blushes. Don't walk away with less than half a case -- a quantity which lets you claim a discount. .The cost of tasting the wines is reasonable, but we do wish they would rebate it back when customer spends $50.00 or more on the fermented fruit of the vine.
