The Purangi Winery was established in 1985 the 37th Winery in New Zealand. The Evans Family who moved from Hong Kong were welcomed as settlers by the district in 1966. Our products are made in the traditional manner with purest ingredients hence the company name Purangi Estate Ltd or "PurEst". In 2009 we built a wood fired pizza oven and launched the Purangi Winery Pizzeria which has been more and more popular. We produce many of the ingredients for the pizzas, making the pesto and pizza sauce and using a wide range of fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden. Our bar in the Coromandel invites you to enjoy all our homemade products: Cider, Wines, Long Drinks and (in winter) Mulled Wine as well as a wide range of national and international beers. Relax in our family friendly environment. WE ARE IN THE PROGRESS OF RELOCATING AND ARE NOT OPEN UNTILE FURTHER NOTICE!

Boutique Vineyard & Restaurant located above Cooks Beach & over looking the beautiful Mercury Bay. Offering a selection of estate grown wines and matched with high quality Italian style food in a casual & relaxed setting.
We tasted eight wines in total. We enjoyed them all and the Pinot Noir was superb. We had the cheese platter to accompany the wines and it too was first-class. Our table gave us fine views. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A gorgeous delight to savour the food and produce of Coroglen on a beautiful summers day. Started off with a bacon & egg muffin with homemade plum sauce (Next time I’ll try the mussel fritters). The vegetable garden at back of the Gumtown hall was bursting with yummy stuff. The vendor just walked off and harvested fresh rock melons on the spot. A glass of fresh tangelo juice and a mug of Lala coffee under the umbrella capped off a great little outing from Hahei beach campground. A plum and yogurt ice block cooled us on the drive home and we had a fresh sourdough loaf with local Orua olive oil for lunch Yum
