Lincoln's friendliest, liveliest arts venue, packed full of the very best in theatre, comedy, musical theatre, pantomime, music, film, children's events, literature, dance... and much much more! We are open 9-5 Monday to Saturday and offer food and drink (and sometimes free live music) in our Cafe Bar between 9:30 and 4:30. The bar is also open for business when events are on in the evenings.
We saw Henry Moon & The Greasy Spoon on 20th February, took our granddaughter along to see the show. The theatre is excellent, as are the staff. This performance was a 'pay what you can' show during half-term. I was absolutely shocked at how many people walked past those buckets on their way out without making any donation at all. Sure, I'm making a judgement, but if people can afford designer clothes and accessories, they can afford a few pounds for their children to see a show. I think the Drill Hall management should re-think the concept.

Bringing the very best in live entertainment since 1893, the New Theatre Royal is a stunning, Grade-II listed Victorian theatre nestled in the centre of the historic city of Lincoln. The theatre was given a new breath of life in September 2016 when new management re-opened its doors, offering everything from musicals and opera, through to film screenings, children’s theatre and live music - not to forget its popular Christmas and Easter Pantomimes, and Comedy Night at the Royal. The theatre has won awards for its commitment to offering entertainment for the whole family and is the proud owner of a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence. I took the family to the pantomime Robin Hood and we all had a wonderful time, with huge amounts of laughing and audience participation. The staging, direction, choreography, singing and acting were of a professional standard. This is an attractive historic theatre that is being lovingly cared for by the owners and by volunteers. We are lucky to have such a great facility in Lincoln and it deserves to be supported,

Saw their production of Christmas Carol at Plowright in Scunthorpe. We had read the novel and seen the Alastair Sim movie version every year for about the last 30 years so interested to see what this was going to be like. I think the cast was a total of 7, each taking a number of different roles. The play was very much based on the Dickens novel with a few variations. Also a bit singing, a little bit of dancing. A mixed age group in the audience all seemed to thoroughly enjoy it as we did. A great early start to Christmas and well recommended.
