NI Food Tours

We invite you to join us in a truly unique and memorable experience. I live in an area of "outstanding natural beauty" on the shores of Strangford Lough just 30 minutes from Belfast. Join myself and my lovely multi award winning Bread maker - Fred, and you will make a variety of traditional Northern Irish breads - soda bread, wheaten / brown bread, potato bread in the very relaxed surroundings of my home - an 18th century thatched barn. We will be offering traditional Christmas themed bread making sessions from mid November. You will be treated to an impressive choice of local foods to accompany your breads. There will also be some tray bakes - northern Irish sweet treats. Tea and coffee will be served in my best bone china - I love the excuse to use it! This is a great way to meet other visitors and the locals! There will be no more than 10 Guests in the session so that it's personal and that we can work with everyone individually. You will be given a copy of all recipes also.

We recently had a wonderful full day of activities organised by Tracey at NI food tours. We are a group of 8 friends who were spending 4 days in Northern Ireland and Tracey had planned a fabulous day for us to experience some of the best food and drink that NI has to offer. We arrived at Tracey’s beautiful home on the shores of Strangford lough mid morning and were welcomed in her farmhouse kitchen with a wonderful selection of freshly baked bread and cakes with local jams and marmalade’s all washed down with plenty of tea and coffee After a short demonstration we were invited to try our hand at making soda and wholemeal traditional Irish bread. It was such fun and even the most reluctant cooks amongst us were very happy. The next experience on the list was a visit to the Echlinville whiskey and gin distillery. Here we were served a signature gin and tonic while learning about the background of the Echlinville Estate before taking a tour of the distillery. Following the tour we were invited to do a gin and whiskey tasting. Being a fan of gin I couldn’t resist buying a few bottles to bring home! After the distillery we drove to the village of Portaferry and were treated to a demonstration of the cooking of the local lough mussels by the chef Krzysztof who demonstrated two recipes which we were able to sample washed down with white wine, we also enjoyed some local oysters which were delicious. Next stop after a short ferry ride across the lough was the Castlescreen Farm where we were welcomed by the lovely farmers Damian and Jackie and their children, who all had a part to play, and after a delicious BBQ we were taken to meet the beautiful Dexter cattle. Last stop was a visit to JN wine merchants and another enjoyable tasing session of gin, whiskey and wonderful wines which were paired with local cheeses and chocolate Tracey was a warm and friendly and knowledgeable host and we truly had the best day. I can highly recommend asking her to make a tour for you tailored to meet your requirements ... you will not be disappointed!

As a family we decided we wanted to make jigsaw puzzle necklaces that all fit together, they turned out beautifully! It now has such sentimental value and I’ll wear my necklace everyday. Would 100% recommend this workshop as a relaxing activity or birthday treat. Ruth is also so welcoming and helpful. Fab morning :)

This pool is amazing. I am not very good at speaking English and the till workers at the front help me. I swim by myself and the pool is great fun for keeping fitness up.
