At the gateway to Tanushimaru Town, the JR Tanushimaru Station building is shaped like a sprawling Kappa (Water Sprite) because many Kappa legends remain in the town. The Kappa’s head houses Tanushimaru Furusato Hall, where visitors will find the Tanushimaru Town Tourism Association, an exhibition hall in which local specialties associated with Kappa and so on are displayed, and a Kappa material room on the second floor that introduces Kappa legends and more.
