really good place to visit, and if you ask for a wristband, you can pop in and out all day. you can spend a good few hours going round and learning about the history of German football, many of the films/videos have English subtitles.

The Altenberg zinc factory is expected to be closed until 2023 due to reconstruction measures. A new permanent exhibition is planned. It will relate more strongly to the zinc factory than before. The life and work of the people in the region will take center stage. The curators want to pursue the question of how industry and its development has influenced the people. Current changes and the question of the future of work will also be examined. As the site of the LVR Industrial Museum, the Rheinisches Landesmuseum fur Industrie- und Sozialgeschichte, these areas will naturally continue to be the focus of attention.

It is the birthplace of the Ruhr industry: the St. Antony Smeltery. In 1758, pig iron flowed here for the first time in the Ruhr region. Today it tells of the exciting start of the iron and steel industry, of significant innovations and of the hard life of the people who worked there. An excursion to the St. Antony Smeltery is also an experience for younger guests through the playground next to the museum.

The industrial designer and architect Peter Behrens designed the imposing building as the former main warehouse of Gutehoffnungshütte. Since 1998, it has served the LVR industrial museum as a central collection depot. More than 350,000 objects of industrial and everyday culture are stored here on five floors. In addition, special exhibitions are regularly presented in the Peter-Behrens-Bau.
