This venue has a little bit for everyone....XC skiing, tubing, ice skating, snack bar. We loved the XC ski trails. Lots of starter runs for the family and enough more challenging trails for the better skiers. It was a little crowded near the chalet but once you escaped to any of the three major blue coded loops, it was great. This is a nice alternative to the Birkie Trail near Hayward. I’d highly recommend for those with youngsters or beginner skiers!

Trailhead starts in downtown Minocqua, with a long trestle over part of Lake Minocqua and then into wooded areas, past some small lakes, changing into more open areas later on the trail. There were also two small parking areas along the trail if you wanted to ride a section at a time. Total miles around 18 one way.

CLEANEST zoo I’ve ever been in! So much bigger than I realized. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Did the extra tram and was well worth it-we saw a herd of wildebeests running, amazing herds of beautiful Oryxs and Bongos. Lots of exotics-zebras, giraffes, tigers, leopards, monkeys, penguins...Our favorite was a giant bird cage with hundreds of parakeets. Didn’t see poop anywhere! Reptile house didn’t have a single smell-so clean! Lots of opportunities to walk among and touch animals. Went 9/2/20 and lots of babies running around. Happiest animals I’ve ever seen. Was there for 4 hours but could’ve stayed longer and still didn’t do everything that there is to do.

During the COVID crisis you will need to call ahead and reserve a tour time. It is well worth the time to see hawks, eagles and other predators.. Mammals and reptiles are also residents at the Center
