Even though Copeton Dam is very low at the moment due to the devastating drought, it is still worth the visit. Staff are very friendly and the facilities are very good. They have park accommodation and playgrounds for children. The size of the dam is impressive

Billabong Blue Sapphire Fossicking Park

Billabong Blue Sapphire Fossicking Park is situated 22kms on the Swanbrook Road from Inverell NSW. A great place to fossick for your very own sapphires, with camping facilities also available. Bring the whole family or come alone, either way you're guaranteed to enjoy your day.

This park is 24km out of Inverell and well worth the visit. Cost was $20 per person all day from 9am to 3pm. He shows you how to fossick for the saphires and then it is totally up to you. We found some wonderful gems and was impressed by the professional set up of the equipment. Great day, great fun
