Come and enjoy a lunch time tour of the farm with Fiona... Arrive at 11am and over a cup of tea or coffee the history of the farm and process of making tea is informally explained, followed by an opportunity to see tea in the field. Then take a walk in the indigenous forest with our resident Kenyan guide who will identify the plants and explain how they are traditionally used. Look out for the Colobus monkeys close up and wander in the gardens which are home to a wide variety of birds and flowers. Return to the house to enjoy a pre-lunch drink on the verandah with sweeping views across the tea fields to the Ngong Hills. Enjoy your three course buffet lunch from our set menu prepared with vegetables from the garden and desserts are topped with cream from our herd of Channel Island cows. Advance booking is essential, cost is Kshs.3,800 per person all inclusive, children under 12 are half price.
We visited Kiambethu earlier today and it was a superb experience. A short picturesque drive from Nairobi CBD area, it is a perfect day trip to do. From the welcome we received once we arrived, to the tremendous talk that Fiona gave us about tea (we learnt so much, and yet it was not information overload) and finally to the amazing tea and lunch - everything was just perfect. The farm house is really charming and lawn and gardens are beautiful and a great place to spend some time too. The walk through the indigenous forest was also refreshing. Fiona and the team have really made their home a little piece of heaven and it was lovely to be their guests for the day - everyone makes you feel right at home. The only difficulty with coming here is that you don't want to leave.

It was an afternoon drive to Chania Falls. I encountered many buffalo, quail birds, bongos, different species of monkeys and antelopes. Chania Falls within the park was breathtakingly refreshing. I met a group of families from the falls with young kids as old as 2yrs going up and down the falls meaning it is safe and exciting to kids too. On our way back, that is when we met hyenas lying on the road waiting for the darkness to set in in order to disturb the peace in the park. This is a lovely place one should plan to visit.

This was a wonderful stop along our route to Mt. Kenya. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful falls which fall 72m from the top area. There was a festive air about, many people enjoying the area, and photos abound. The payment system (Mpesa) is inconvenient especially if you do not have the account (and as a foreigner, many don’t), but we were able to find someone who did, gave them the cash, and we were in. There are people walking around with chameleons who want to charge you 500 ksh to hold them, people in traditional attire who will dance and take photos with you, vendors walking around selling other things. There is also a picnic area where you pay 200ksh per person for the use of a table (there were very few tables in use) in addition to a very small children’s amusement park area which is also a separate fee. In all, it was a fun, short visit to see the lovely falls and a great place to stop between our two long-distance destinations.

Fourteen falls is a great place to visit. You could cross the river and the experience is very excited. You will hold your guide's hand and walk Pole Pole to cross the river. Make sure you walk slowly and don't fall.
