Vatnsholt is a newly renovated country lodge in a beautiful setting above the lake of Villingarholt. From Vatnsholt you will enjoy a magnificent view where you can easily spot the Westman islands (Vestmannaeyjar), the glacier of Eyjafjall (Eyjafjallajökull), the Tinda Mountains (Tindfjöll), the famous volcano Hekla and the slopes of Hella. Vatnsholt is conveniently located 70 km from Reykjavik with an easy access from the main highway, only 16 km from the nearest town of Selfoss where you will find all the modern comforts a town has to offer.
Wash the pillows!!
Reviewed By linstiIt’s insanely unhygienic to put pillows that has never been washed as a pillow for your head to sleep on! How do I know they haven’t been washed? The cover was not removable from the pillow and it had some hair on it from a previous customer. I would like an answer from the hotel on why they think it’s acceptable to have unwashable pillows in the bed? If the cover is not removable you cannot wash it unless you are going to throw the whole pillow in the machine, which im sure you do not. So disgusting. Got that unwashed pillow plus one clean which was super thin and lumpy! Neither me nor my boyfriend were happy and we almost left. Never again…

Great stay at Julia's
Reviewed By Francis_de_VentWe had a great time at Julia's! It was verry cosy, animals all around and every morning a fresh egg with (warm) self bkaed bread. We had our own room with toilet, had tobshare the shower. Drank som beers with Mike (the soon "to be" husband of Julia. Super.

Quiet Cozy Cottage
Reviewed By Jason WOn our 2nd last night in Iceland we stayed in our first guesthouse. The cottage was cozy and we appointed with everything you would need to use it as a home base near Iceland's most famous attractions. You are centered in between the Black Beaches near Vik and Gullfoss to the north. The hot tub was an added perk after many days of hiking to the many waterfalls. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. Best value in Iceland to date.

Great Location, Basic Accommodations
Reviewed By StanD372Very friendly and helpful staff got our group of 17 settled in. They offered us dinner (at a cost) but we opted to go back into Selfoss for dinner. Many of the rooms have shared bathroom facilities that were clean however I wish there had been more shower facilities. The breakfast was good and what I consider to be traditionally European with the addition of pickled herring. The wifi was good. The only negative was that the rooms were pretty spartan and utilitarian, and the walls were thin so it was kinda noisy.

Bella Apartments&Rooms is a new family owned property situated in central Selfoss, Southern Iceland. The Hotel offers 15 rooms Twin / Double which are all equipped with private bathrooms and flat-screen TV. We also have 4 large Two Bedroom apartments and one Penthouse apartment (one bedroom) equipped with kitchen, laundry room and a living room with balconies overlooking the town. Bella promised a credit, then vanished on us
Reviewed By 175juliankBella Apartments promised us a full credit for the amount of our April 2020 reservation, which we had to postpone due to the COVID pandemic. Fast forward to 2022, and after repeated attempts to contact them to use this credit, which we had evidence of in writing, they conveniently declined to return any of our messages or emails. Very disappointing and unprofessional. They simply ghosted us.

Most beautiful cottage in Iceland!
Reviewed By JohannesG259If you want to stay at a beautiful cottage with an amazing view as well as great service, then there is no way around Hestheimar in south Iceland! Sadly we only stayed one night this time, but we will make up for it on our next Iceland tour! The cottages are very clean, big, offer everything one could ask for, are generously separated from other cottages, and offer an amazing view into a big valley and horses. The main building has a beautiful restaurant where we could enjoy a great breakfast. We can highly recommend this great accommodation!
