First settled in the 18th century by freed slaves from America, Nova Scotia and Great Britain, Freetown is a thriving cultural capital on the Atlantic coast of Sierra Leone. Standing in the center of downtown is the majestic cotton tree, a symbol of freedom said to have been standing since the first arrival of the free settlers. Other attractions include numerous beaches and nightclubs, as well as the Sierra Leone Museum, housing the Ruiter Stone and the original drum of Bai Bureh.

Located in the expansive countryside, just outside of Sierra Leone’s vibrant Freetown, is family-owned and run, Stafford Lodge. Our 15-room lodge caters to the traveler looking for an intimate experience with all amenities required for a seamless stay.
My stay was Freakin Amazing! The husband and wife team of Desmond & Dori have managed to create a Safe, Clean and Harmonious Space within the hustle and bustle of Sierra Leone ?? Traveling from the US it was nice to find a hotel that is actually owned by indigenous/native Sierra Leoneans. I even met one of their celebrity guest while there; Mr. John Bankole Kamari #6 of Sierra Leone National Football Team; he was working out in the Stafford Lodge’s Gym! This place is one of “Salone’s Hidden Gems” and It is my go to place whenever I travel ? to my new home of Sierra Leone!

Ideally located just 15 minutes from the Aberdeen port and 10 minutes from Lumley Beach. The Jam Lodge Hotel is the perfect Bed & Breakfast for business executives wanting to be near corporate offices or vacationers who want to have the comfort and amenities of a hotel at the fraction of the cost.
Very happy to recommend this hotel. Our room was immaculately clean, with ensuite, very comfortable bed, ac and tv with international channels. The location was close enough to the centre for easy access but far enough away to be out of the worst of the congestion. The staff were lovely and made us feel at home. The restaurant had both western and african dishes. We will be sure to stay there on our next visit to Freetown.

Travelling solo to enjoy some winter sights in Iceland. Andy was an amazing tour guide! He handled a small tour bus with care and caution in driving rain and high winds. I peppered him with many questions, and he answered them all with ease! Only 5 people on the tour, and we were fortunate that Andy was our driver! Town of Vik didn't disappoint! Several famous waterfalls with names I can't spell or pronounce, and the dangerous, yet beautiful Black Diamond Beach. Will cherish these photos forever!

We checked in late at approx 03.30 as we were held up sering family before we settled in the hotel, however the first thing that hit me was no elevator to take up your luggage. However that was not the worst thing, the man that we were communicating with advised that a property with a sea view and all the things we asked for would be easily obtained only to find that he showed us 3 properties that had no sea view then the last one was. What tops it of the initial price looks lower than other hotels however they do not used the leon rate to the pound. As it was so late we stayed at the hotel for night and would then find a hotel the following day, however having got to sleep by 05.30, we were woken up by 09.30 for breakfast to our door which sounds fine, however there was 1 skinny frankfurter and a handfull of baked beans. When my lady asked that the breakfast appears to be for one she was advised that if you want 2 breakfasts that is extra. Afford this place.
