Things to do in Equatorial Guinea

We have to take into our consideration that is Equatorial Guinea. I stay there for a business trip for few hours. The reservation was done thru my agent so didn't take a lot of time. Staff were warm and friendly. Rooms are clean but not satisfied enough. Anyway if u'r on a holiday, I highly suggest to stay in a better hotel.

Hotel recientemente inaugurado por la Fundacion para el Deporte de Guinea
I was part of a 10 person event production team that stayed in Malabo for 2.5 weeks running a conference on November 2019. Where to start with this hotel. I am very thick-skinned, have stayed in some real dives in the past so it takes a lot to get me to openly complain as I am below. 1. The language barrier (we are English speaking) is a hinderance though a good experience to learn Spanish on the go, which we did. A few of the daytime managers spoke good English...the lack of English is not a complaint though it may be a hinderance to some people. 2. Generally rundown facilities 3. Very loud AC (think hurricane-level sound) 4. Leaking AC creating literally rivers in many rooms 5. Restaurant was out of the most basic items on their menu (hamburgers, pizzas etc...). and food is overall poor quality with very little seasoning or flavour. 6. Cockroaches crawling out of breadbaskets at breakfast 7. WiFi in the rooms generally very slow or non-existant 8. TV was stuck on one channel (religious channel) 9. Power outage one day for 5 hours though admittedly that's not their fault. 10. After the power outage there was no wifi for 2 days 11. General bad attitude of staff in general though there were some gems. 12. Non-guests are allowed to pay to use the wifi network, which slows it down to a crawl even in the main lobby. Despite all of this some of the staff were real gems though others really need a course in customer relations. If you can afford to put a big team up in a better hotel do it. Though to be honest even the "better" hotels in Malabo are light years from what one expects in traditional tourist / business cities. In Malabo, my opinion is to rather go for a self-catering apartment so you can cook your own food, have decent wifi and more space to relax.

Due to working in country I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions for up to a month at a time. The service is bad and they regularly run out of things from the already limited menu. You can order the same thing 5 times and it will arrive different each time. A few of my colleagues have had food poisoning and I have also refused to eat what has arrived at the table on several occasions. Sometimes they even forget to bring the food at all. Some of the rooms are OK but sometimes you have to try a few before finding an acceptable one. There are always the usual problems like badly fitted shower and insects in the rooms. The internet is also terrible, Its very slow and comes and goes. There is always problems with the key cards and some rooms either don't lock at all or you get locked out the room. I could go on as I have a huge list of complaints about this hotel since I have stayed in it for long periods but you get the picture. It may be OK to stay here for 1 maybe 2 nights but any more than that and I would suggest you stay somewhere else.

Bonnes infrastructures, et personnel à l’écoute. Hotel très propre, et suites gigantesques. Nourriture agréable et locale (je n ai mangé là que le soir). Super accueil du gérant Ravih. Encore merci à toute l’équipe pour ce séjour !
