Perfect Ashland Retreat

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abigail’s. The hosts were welcoming; the breakfast was outstanding (sweet and savory every day); there was coffee, tea, fresh baked cookies and local wine available if you wanted; and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There are areas for relaxing and socializing in the living room and on the covered porch. Lots of information and brochures about the area as well. And, despite the rainy conditions, we walked into town to see our play and take a walk in the park. An easy 10 minute stroll. As always, talking to other guests and our hosts about their experiences with restaurants, plays, and things to do was a highlight of staying at this BnB! We will definitely stay there again!

Our unfortunate stay in the "dungeon"

Reviewed By anthonydD1824IT

Unfortunately our stay at this expensive lodge was not what we expected! As we made ourselves to our room with our hands filled with bags We went to the elevator. A maid was entering the elevator and she said You don't wanna take this elevator it's going to the " dungeon" With hands full with bags we waited for the next elevator as we got off the elevator we saw the same maid standing there and a awful smell, a smell like a sewer line had broken was through out the hallway.... And we had made our way to our room on a floor which they made called the "dungeon " The maid had blocked the hallway with her cart and I asked her if she could move it because I didn't think I could get passed. She said in a very rude voice "yes you can! " She didn't make any effort to move the cart and we pushed our way pass with our bags. When we entered the room the smell was in our room! This was the beginning of our trip and it was not a nice Beginning at all. The towels in the room were falling apart and rough. The sheets on the bed we're so old they were worn and very rough and uncomfortable! This was over a $200 room! For the most part the food was good. Except for a steak which was $30 and overcooked and came with burnt onions and only twi mushrooms! When we made our reservations we were promised live music but there was none! They gave an excuse that a wedding had taken place earlier that day and they just didn't get Any music for that night.99.9% of the staff was friendly and helpful this was really the only good thing about the trip except for that one maid That wouldn't move her car. When I wrote the hotel to complain about our experience I was written a nice note with a apologize , but the only compensation for this awful experience was that next time that I book a room there to please let the manager know and he'll do something special for me. That is not an acceptable response to an experienc like this at a very expensive lodge. I had planned on giving this place another chance but after that response from that manager I don't think we'll be back.

Good price for a basic room

Reviewed By cynthia g

I was a little nervous when I drove in to this old, fifties style motel. The owner checked me in though she was confused because I had reserved via Travelocity. There was only one other guest. There are about 20 rooms. The room was clean. No carpet, thank goodness. The air conditioner was quite loud, but that is my only complaint. Also, when I came back at 5 pm on my first day, my room had not been made up and I did not have fresh towels. I talked to the desk and when I returned from dinner, this had been rectified. Otherwise it was ok and met my needs.
