Excellent exhibition with large wooden structures by David Nash of great beauty and inspiration. Highly recommendable video footage of cork harvest in Spain. Very enjoyable visit to permanent exhibition of local artist Eric Ravilious. His work is so modern and timeless. After finishing the South Downs Walk his pictures were like illustrations of the views we enjoyed this autumn. Incredible! What took our breath away was a masterpiece by contemporary artist Grayson Perry.

Hastings Museum & Art Gallery is a family-friendly museum with amazingly diverse collections. Established over 125 years ago, the Museum offers local people and visitors the opportunity to explore art, culture and history from around the world. Before Hastings tells the story of this area from prehistory to the Saxons and The Story of Hastings in 66 Objects continues the story from 1066 to today. Wildlife is displayed in dioramas of different local habitats and you can discover our prehistoric past in our interactive Dinosaur gallery. Our fine Native North American collection is displayed in three galleries, featuring the Plains and Sub-Arctic areas and the life of Hastings-born Grey Owl. The most spectacular part of the Museum is the Durbar Hall, which contains our World Art displays, as well as being used for a range of events, including weddings. Exhibitions are housed in the Long Gallery. Go to HMAG.org.uk for our current programme.
We ( myself, my sister and nieces (3 and 5) visited on a rainy half term day. It was our first ever visit and we were thoroughly impressed. The museum is beautifully laid out with areas including toys and costumes for the children to play with and explore. It’s also free to enter. One niece loved dressing up like a dinosaur. As it was half term for a very reasonable £2 we were able to join a drumming workshop. Then there was a free Where’s Wally trail which kept even a 3 year old looking and engaged all the way round hunting for Wally in the exhibits. Furthermore there were different craft stations where the girls could make lanterns and fireworks. It was perfect for a rainy day and kept the girls busy and engaged for several hours.

Step into a world of toys, cinema, local history, and fine art. Hove Museum & Art Gallery is a family friendly museum with one of the finest craft collections in the UK.
I revisited this museum today. A wonderful collection of everything imaginable, plus some contemporary art exhibitions. Ceramics, old dolls houses, ancient history of Brighton, you name it, it's got it ! Sadly the café has closed down but it's well worth a visit.

Ditchling is no ordinary village; it has been home to some of Britain's most innovative artists and has a legacy of international importance. Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft is an independent charity dedicated to the display and preservation of art and craft produced by artists associated with the village of Ditchling. The museum celebrates the important artistic heritage of the village which was home to many artists including Frank Brangwyn, Eric Gill, Charles Knight, David Jones, Edward Johnston, Ethel Mairet and many others. Following a major redevelopment in 2013, the museum is now an award-winning attraction with regularly changing exhibitions, a dedicated learning space and new facilities including a shop and cafe in a restored 18th century Cart Lodge.
Interesting and attractive buildings in a lovely situation. The exhibition was fascinating and the cafe served excellent coffee, much needed after a long journey across West Sussex

Had a wonderful coffee and cake, it was beautiful watching the sea whilst enjoying a lovely cappuccino and a slice of cake, we popped in to escape the bad weather whilst taking a stroll and we weren’t disappointed. All social distancing adhered too and the staff were very nice.
