The sapphire waters of Cephalonia are steeped with history. The large Greek island was home to Odysseus, the legendary king hailed in Homer’s The Odyssey. Fortunately, it won’t take you ten years to get there. Explore the enchanting caverns of the Drogarati caves, sail to Ithaca on a glass-bottomed boat or marvel at the ancient artifacts inside the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli, Cephalonia’s main town. Or just hide from it all at one of the island’s many private beach coves.

We had a wonderful week here. I was worried about the stairs (!) it is steep but don’t let this put you off - the views are amazing. Kids pool was perfect for 3 year old and the large pool was exactly that - large! Breakfast was nice variety of warm and cold food so something for everyone. A kettle, teabags and coffee was in the room and we just asked for some milk at breakfast to keep in the fridge back in the room. It’s a pleasant walk down into the village with some amazing places to stop on the way for for food or a drink.

Fabulous hotel, every member of staff was super friendly going out of their way to make sure everything was just right. Especially the greeter in the restaurant every morning, lunch and evening my son couldn’t wait to see if he remembered our room number. Food was really good, my children always found something to eat with pasta options available each day. The hotel is quite remote and there are only a couple of options to have a change of scenery we took taxis to lixoury but there was also a restaurant on the beach and another about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. Could always get a sun bed round a pool if we were up later the water park opened at 10 and usually had some spare (even during half term week when it was busier). Water park workers were equally as friendly especially Alena? Who let my son lifeguard with her and even turn on the slides one morning, she was always willing to lend a hand to the little ones down the slide to a parent at the bottom. The beach was quiet but sun bed always available and the clay made a fun activity for the children. Only 6€ for 2 beds and an umbrella was a lovely change to the pool. We went on a day trip on Gloria (boat trip) which was also fantastic and would recommend to anyone looking for a change. Transfer was wonderful don’t worry about the ferry was the best transfer I have had (we arrived through the day so was a lovely addition). I would recommend this hotel for anyone (maybe hire a car if you like more bars and restaurants)

Everything about La Signora is first class. Bedrooms furnished to the highest standard, quality linens, spotlessly clean, friendly professional staff - in fact one of the best boutique hotels we have stayed in. Only B&B available - and it's a great breakfast - and the food in the restaurant is so good you wouldn't want to go anywhere else. We would have returned in September if it wasn't fully booked! Cant wait to return.....

This is not a 5 star hotel, more like a 3/4 star. Firstly the pool area is lovely, although for a 5 star hotel, I would expect cushions on the sun loungers. Decking is rough in places and needs attention, and the toilets by the pool area are disgusting by the end of the day. The all inclusive food is really very poor, all lukewarm and repetitive choices. Juice at breakfast watered down, we just expected more from a 5 star hotel. Only fish on offer was frozen fish fillets in same dill sauce every night. Salads were good though. Rooms aren’t great, old dark brown furniture and curtains don’t fit windows, only cover half way across. Cheap plastic furniture on balcony. Lumpy pillows. Shower gel and shampoos not replaced during our stay, nor tea and coffee. Cheap plastic chairs and tables in the restaurant, again, not a 5 star experience. Staff make this hotel, restaurant and bar staff are all very nice, helpful and kind. The entertainment was dreadful, same man and woman every night massacring songs with a euro beat as they dance along, the little children liked it, everyone else we spoke to thought it was awful and would have preferred a Greek experience. If you’re looking for a hotel with nice pool and are happy to get a taxi to Skala for meals, it’s a good choice, but garden rooms are definitely not a 5 star experience. Plenty of other lovely places on the island, which is truly spectacular and beautiful with lovely people.

Arrived here last Tuesday. Horrendous. No hat water, and others had no water at all. Told to let it run for a few minutes Had shower in cold water, whilst the water came up both drains in the bathroom, and out into the room. Management did nothing. after an ongoing saga, mopping the floor myself, being ignored, asked for new room. told no - they would fix it sometime! Then slipped on wet floor and hurt my back for the duration of holiday. Still hurts now! eventually got room changed. no word of sorry and no accident form from management! food - atrocious. always cold. No labels on the buffet, you have to guess, Ended up being food taster for my vegetarian friend. Gave up, and ended up eating out but of course not refunded for the meals we had paid for. Breakfast passable. Always on brink of freezing. Butter always left out so warm and runny, and no olive oil. Bread (sliced) left out all night!) Cleanliness - well one day got 6 towels for one person, as well as my dirty towels. rest a hit or miss. Didn't bother cleaning my room for two days but managed to leave me a feedback questionnaire. They don't wash the steps to the rooms at all. Insects all over them. too far from skala village - shuttle bus okay, but different staff drive it, and drop you off and collect you from diffenet places. They also don't look to see how many to pick up. Luckily someone else saw me waving in the road and got them to pick me up (all booked), or I could still be missing in Skala. Saving grace - pool bar man Dimitris. we had horrendous rain one night, so couldn't go there, there is an indoor bar, but they wouldn't open it! we also had to demand (and I do mean DEMAND!) that they put the outdoor lighting on - trying to go up hills and steps in the dark, is very dangerous. Avoid, at all costs, and especially if vegetarian or mobility issues. (and just NO if you are a vegan!) rooms - my new room only had a net curtain, so no black out, and little sleep - even the shutters let in light. wi fi - very poor more like a poor one star that the 4 star they advertise
