Our most popular day starts with a trip to a local market to buy the very best, fresh produce and then we head back to Ida's compound to prepare, cook and eat what we have made with like minded, social people. Have a look at our reviews to see what people think. We have started Come Dine with Ida too - please enquire for more information. COME DINE WITH IDA is also suitable for groups who would like to have authentic Gambian food in a Gambian home. Transportation is included in all my trips.
The whole experience was both fun and enlightening. Introduction to real Gambian cooking with Ida and her team, made more fun by dressing up to start with (don't be shy - everyone does it!) and then of course the visit to Tanji fish market which is just brilliant and an experience in its own right. We've since tried the fish yassa at home - what memories!

Our kayaking trips offer an unique way to see the river Gambia and enjoy the beautiful nature. We’ll guide you on the river between the tranquil mangroves and spot birds and monkeys. You can individually use a kayak or join a pirogue boat, which makes our trips suitable for anyone, all ages and abilities. The adventure starts at our base at the beginning of Tanji Fishing Village.

This reserve contains about 295 species of birds.
My wife and visited the reserve recently, we are not birdwatchers but we both thought it was an amazing experience. We spent about two hours in the park with Park ranger and guide Lamin who had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the birds and surrounding reserve. We saw around 40 species in a relatively short space of time for a ridiculously small amount of money. A good tip is to get your taxi driver to pick you up at the opposite end of the park to where you started, you see a lot more as you don’t double back over similar ground. The terrain was easy and I gained the impression you could spend all day there if you were a keen birdwatcher. We saw Hornbills, sun birds, Bee Eaters, Six Ospreys, Caspian Terns etc etc

The fishermen bring their fish to the beach, the women get this from the boats and sell it on the beach. A very crowding scene but a lot a variety in fish. Full coloured people, Smoking of the fish, etc. Take your camera or video and you have a busy time!
