Our family visited Sewanee (University of the South) today, June 18, 2017 during Coach Rundle's Football Camp. Amazing is all our son & family can say. The facilities are extremely adequate. Coaching staff impressive with attention to detail, making you feel like family, building relationships....Can't say enough good things about them. Thanks coaches!
Ate lunch at the cafeteria which was well above out expectations for "cafeteria " food. Amazing food selection, desserts, & attention to detail.
Campus tour was interesting, however until you learned the campus it would be confusing. Mr. Cassell, Admissions Director, extremely helpful and was great to meet him at football field in his regular routine.
Only concern we have is paying $50,000 per year to attend. I know scholarships are available, however $25,000 per year is still significantly above what my family could afford. Our son truly loved it, but how would we pay for it?

We visited the cross on a recent visit to the Monteagle area. It was beautiful and was right at the edge of a gorgeous overlook. Highly recommend stopping to see this if you are in the area.
We had a little trouble finding it, but later realized there are arrows posted on the campus signs near the chapel.

We started out by the war memorial cross located by the university of the south.
We took the blue trail and enjoyed scenic views, waterfalls and caves. You should wear good walking shoes, comfortable clothing and bring along some bottled water.
We spent only about 3 hours on the blue trail at a slow pace.
This place could be an all day adventure. I hope to return and spend the day here.
Absolutely beautiful and very peaceful.

Very artsy, just like the town itself. There isn't a lot of shopping, this is basically it. They had some cute stuff that was made locally and some awesome pottery that we picked up. There are some breakables, so if you stop-in with the kiddos, just be aware of that. Angels everywhere, which goes in hand with the history of the town....pretty cool.

When you visit be sure to allow time to talk with Debbie Welch who owns the attached Full Circle Candles. Don’t be tricked in to the knock off full circle gifts down the street, that’s just an imported gift shop. Both Full Circle and Hallelujah offer local hand made products.
Locals is a living, art-filled part of The Village of Sewanee; a place where life around the mountain is reflected in art. Locals features local artists presenting glass, ceramics, canvas, paper, fine wood boxes & bowls, bronze sculpture, copper, pottery, hand-forged metals and handmade jewelry.
