Traveling from Marquette, MI to Missouri in our Airstream, we used Harvest Host to plan our route for stay overs which brought us to Rushford Meadery and Winery in Omro, WI. This was the first time we had used Harvest Host, and for me, the first time I had experienced mead. I thought it was heavy ale from the Middle Ages and was pleased to discover it was wine fermented from honey. We had a lovely experience here. The hosts, Shane and Laurel were very welcoming. We parked our 22ft trailer overlooking the grape vineyards, alfalfa and corn fields. Laurel gave us a tasting of the mead and wine that they produced. We purchased 2 glasses of mead, balsamic cheddar cheese and some crackers and sat at the picnic table while watching the Sandhill Cranes in the distance field. This place felt so remote and peaceful. Interesting conversations with Shane and Laurel who gave us personal tours of the vineyard. We had a peaceful stay over and have several bottles of mead and wine to further enjoy.

We love going to Terrel’s Island. It’s a great way to get our steps in, be together as a family and enjoy this unique place. The full route is 3.8 miles and at times you are near marsh like scenery and then at other times in the wide open, surrounded by water on all sides. You won’t be disappointed- and the only fee is your own donation in a lockbox at the entrance. Enjoy!!

guided tour of a working family dairy farm using robotic milking and automatic calf feeding technology. You will tour a free-stall dairy barn where cows milk themselves 24-hours a day. Visit calves and feed them if your visit is during their feeding time.
