5 miles of bumpy gravel road...totally worth it! This place is more or less in the middle of nowhere. The silence was astounding, the scenery magnificent. We ate a picnic lunch in the shade of the very clean picnic shelters before we headed down to the "Ballroom". The kids had a fun time finding the dino tracks and fruitlessly hunting for T-rex fossils in the gully wall. It was extremely hot so wear sunscreen and hats!

We came upon this on our way from Mt Rushmore towards Yellowstone NP. It was by complete accident that we found it, as our intention was to finally stop and have lunch (this route has very few official rest areas); the volunteer-run museum is cute. Nothing too dramatic and the staff were pretty disinterested/disengaged, but the planes were cool - including a RCAF air command control plane that seemed curiously out of place among the American firefighting aircraft.

Very difficult to get to, yet worth the rough road. Would love it if there were tours or placards explaining the site. Apparently, it is an abandoned archeological dig site, clearly badlands. Not sure of the finds from these pits, but fascinating! Be careful as the stones may slide.

In 1916, The Bijou Theater was a quaint, 250 seat theater featuring nightly vaudeville acts, comedy plays, orchestras and silent movies. One hundred years later, the building houses Crazy Woman Trading Post and Salon Bijou. The restored silent movie posters, silent movies playing on the wall, the newspaper floor, building history, interior charm and shopping make it worth the stop!
This is Greybull's 5 star clothing store. There are also unusual items to take home in this store. Items are creatively displayed. It is worth a stop.. This fantastic lady also owns the Jurassic Cowboy across the street. It not only has sweat shirts but all kinds of dinosaur items, including clothes. Only the cutest items for a young person here. If your are bored and want to see the fossils found in this area, do stop by the Museum of Ancient Life near the Jurassic Cowboy store.

Although it was near closing, the proprietor graciously invited me to come in. The stories of geologic shifts and dinosaurs is not to be missed. The fossils helped me feel transported back in time.
Jurassic Cowboy is located in the heart of Downtown Greybull inside the Historical Big Horn Hotel and Theater. It supports the new Big Horn Basin Geoscience Center and offers a great selection of themed T-Shirts, gifts & books including Dinosaurs, Jurassic Cowboy, Wyoming, Surf Wyoming & Crazy Woman.
