My husband & I had been to Sioux Falls 5 different times prior to this trip but had never visited the Palisades. So glad the hubs discovered it online! We visited twice during our 3-day stay in the city. What a beautiful, peaceful place. We walked trails, hopped rock to rock out in the creek, read some historical signs here and there...it was a wonderful time. It's also just a short distance from Devil's Gulch Park, which is totally worth visiting. They have a really nice trail system as well. We certainly hope to come back to the Palisades soon!

This park has a Jesse James legend attached to it. It's a beautiful place to see and hike around. It's out of the way but is my favorite stop near Sioux Falls. There are falls and you can walk the trail over to the next park, Splitrock Falls. Information center is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Outhouse type bathrooms available. Pretty place for a picnic.

Enjoy quartzite rock formations along Split Rock River and interesting architecture of the WPA featuring a dam with waterfall, bathhouse, bridges and rock wall with flower garden. The quartzite used in the structures was hand quarried locally. Primitive camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, picnicking are just some of the activities to enjoy with your family
