3 Guys & A Beer'd Taproom

Reviewed By jrman66 - New Jersey

After doing my research I came across a brewery in Carbondale that was open for tastings on Saturday night. What I did not know was that this tasting room had only been open for only two weeks during my visit.

From the moment I entered this large, open, tasting room, I was made to feel like family. I sat at a table because the bar was full. The people who I met and served me food and beer were friendly, inviting and extremely knowledgeable about the beer. And man the beer was awesome!

I tried all of their beer samples with my favorite being the Chewhoppa IPA. I also loved the Carbond'Alien Pale Ale.

For food I had the cheese platter and then had a delicious Ruben for dinner.

The vibe in this place was very comfortable and full of energy. I highly recommend this place for craft beer lovers as well as anyone looking for a comfortable place to hand out on a weekend.

Panorama Golf Course

A scenic, country golf course, surrounded by mountains. Panorama offers a challenge to golfers of every level and is recognized as one of the longest public courses in Pennsylvania. You will enjoy a par 72 round on a course which covers 7,256 yards.

I really enjoy playing Panorama. The course is long and challenging. But with enough open area that if you do stray from the fairway you can recover. The cost is great $32 weekday with cart or $36 on the weekend. That could be spring rates. Played in early May. It is kept in very good shape. Greens are fast for upstate PA. The beer and food cost is low. And now they have a nice deck overlooking the ninth hole. So you can enjoy a beverage with a view.

Archbald Pothole State Park

Reviewed By copperdragon66 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Normally, potholes aren't really very interesting, but even those with no interest in geology will find this a pleasant, short walk in this tiny PA State Park.

Why visit a hole in the ground? Geology, history, and it IS actually believed to be the largest known glacial pothole. The grove where the pothole is also is naturally cooler in the summer than the surrounding area. And finally, tick the box on your bucket list!

It's right off the main highway, US 6, but the entrance is easy to miss. Because the park is not staffed by a full time park ranger, sometimes in the off season the gate is closed. This was the case during my weekday, winter visit, and I just parked next to the gate. Normally I wouldn't advise anyone to park by a gate, but in this case I could see my car from the pothole - yes, it's that close.

Assuming the gate is open, you'll drive 100 feet past a small picnic area and paved parking area. The entire place is almost perfectly level and suitable for anyone needing accessibility.

The park service has done a terrific job of getting you access to the pothole and it's surrounded by a fence and walkway, and even has a concrete deck on one side, allowing you to peer directly into the throat of the pothole which is about 40 feet to the bottom.

There's also an interpretive sign which mostly tells you that while science knows it's geologically young (only about 12000 years old), we're not exactly sure how it formed. In fact it was covered by gravel and only uncovered during local coal mining activities in 1884, and then used as an air shaft for the coal mine. The state of PA received it as a gift in 1961, and now it's here as part of our natural heritage.

While my kids would quickly tire of looking at the large hole in the ground, they would be quite happy to roam the nearby woods and otherwise stretch their legs. Be careful pulling back out onto US 6, it's a very busy highway.

Recommended for a quick stop to stretch your legs.

Maiolatesi Wine Cellars

Maiolatesi Wine Cellars is one of Northeastern Pennsylvania's premiere wineries and tasting rooms.

Reviewed By acnjcop - Galloway, New Jersey

Least favorite of all the Lackawanna County area wineries. Visited on afternoon of 4/20/17. Wines were very average. Tasted nothing worth purchasing, unlike other local wineries where multiple bottles purchased.
Staff was not very helpful, in fact were downright rude.
Location is in a strip mall in an industrial area with heavy, and dangerous, traffic flow.
Will not be returning.

We are a sports bar that serves a variety of food, we are well known for our wings with homemade sauces, pizza, and sandwiches.

Reviewed By BigCityCowboy - San Diego, California

Keeping in mind that this is a simple bar in rural Pennsylvania, it was really good to visit. - It's definitely a locals-bar, but very welcoming and friendly. The menus is small-ish, but the wings are 5 Stars! The owner is really friendly, they have a couple of dart games, a juke box and a billiard table. What else could you wish for?

Archibald Pothole State Park

Reviewed By Kayla G - St. Petersburg, Florida

It's a pothole. A rather large, naturally occurring pothole. It's actually pretty cool to look down inside and see life continuing on the inside. There is a fence all the way around.

We spent 10 minutes here. We came, we saw.

Now, it looks like you could have a nice, quiet picnic, so I would suggest packing a lunch and enjoying nature.
