North Kingstown is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States, and is part of the Providence metropolitan area. According to the 2015 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, the population in 2015 was 22,358. North Kingstown is home to the birthplace of the famous American portraitist Gilbert Stuart who was born in the village of Saunderstown. Within the town is Quonset Point, location of the former Naval Air Station Quonset Point, known for the invention of the Quonset hut, as well as the neighborhood of Davisville, location of the former Davisville Naval Construction Battalion Center.

Located on 23 acres, the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum contains the authentically restored and furnished 1750home and snuff mill where Gilbert Stuart was born. Beautiful setting, walking trails with signs explaining the sights, three historic gardens, Early Colonial Military history (Great Swamp Fight and King Philip’s War) Roger Williams Trading Post, 18th century Northern Plantation, Rhode Island’s path to statehood, exposed Architectural details, Early commercial large scale diary. So much to see, learn and enjoy! Tours led by knowledgeable docents in Colonial dress.

Once on board the Julia Leigh fast ferry to Martha's Vineyard, an announcement came on informing us this was the very first sailing of this new boat. We looked at each other with trepidation, as "maiden voyage" immediately brings to mind the Titanic, lol. But, no worries, the ride was smooth as silk, the weather and seas were calm (no icebergs to be seen anywhere) and everything on the boat was shiny and clean. On the way back home, we ran into quite a bit of fog, but we felt very safe and secure. The crew was friendly and helpful, and we were pleased with our decision to use this ferry for our day trip to the island.

Wickford Harbor is a hidden gem as is the Village. Just recently sat on a bench overlooking the harbor and witnessed a beautiful sunset. Love the fact that it is rarely crowded. Plenty of parking in the municipal lot right in the center of town; harbor is right there with plenty of benches. Get yourself a cup of coffee and take in all the beauty that is there for the taking. Harbor is great for kayaking, too. Enjoy!

Went to a birthday party at Center and it was wonderful. The person who did the tour/demo for the kids was fantastic and took his time to explain about the fish and turtles over and over again, the kids were 7! Would highly recommend it as there is plenty to see and plenty to do.
