Litochoro (Greek: Λιτόχωρο, Katharevousa: Λιτόχωρον) is a town and a former municipality in the southern part of the Pieria regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it has been part of the Dio-Olympos municipality, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It is located at the base of Mount Olympus, on the western shore of the Thermaic Gulf. The first recorded mention of Litochoro is in an account of a visit by Saint Dionysius (Greek: Άγιος Διονύσιος) to Mount Olympus in the 16th century. The town is a popular destination for those wishing to climb Mount Olympus as almost all climbing routes begin to the southwest of the town.

We were in Litochoro for a few days to hike to the top of Mt Olympus. Dimitrios picked us up prompt and early on the day of our ascent, gave us lots of great advice (having hiked the mountain himself many times!) and was fun and friendly. Very pleasant driving and nice car as well. We also called him to take us to and from the beach when we descended the mountain, and to the train station the following day; he was very friendly, offered to help us arrange our tickets at the train station, and brought us to the nicest beach! Would absolutely call him again if in need of a driver in the area, can’t recommend enough.

Welcome to the equestrian club Hepocrene (Olympus Horse Riding Club). Our club which was founded in 2018 by Annie Kapetanaki, is one of the most beautiful destinations in Litochoro, Pieria.
We took a one and half hour ridding tour. Me and my two boys 14 and 11 years old. It was a great attraction and a great experiance. Hanny the instructor was amazing both in welcoming us and with guidence along the tour. She took us to a beautiful path. Very recommended.

WE loved seeing the monastery. it was so full of history and amazing to see inside. They are now renovating it and there are still monks living there.

My 11 year old and I hiked from the parking lot to the two lower summits in a single day - difficult but extremely gratifying! It's a really long climb but not in any way technical. Ideal is staying at the refuge and hiking the four peaks from there. We were in runners which did the trick but boots would have been better near the peak. There is a great alternative return from Skolio through the canyon below - check out a hiking map before hiking it.
