Howrah is located on the west bank of the Hooghly River, and is the headquarters of the district, and of the Howrah Sadar subdivision of the district. It is the second largest city in West Bengal after Kolkata. Howrah is famous for hosting one of the busiest train stations in India, as well as for the four bridges that connect it to Kolkata. This bridge is also known as Vidyasagar bridge after Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. A landmark of Kolkata connects Kolkata to Howrah and situated over river Hooghly. One can take a better view of this place from Princep Ghat and while riding a boat over tge river Hooghly.

I went to Rail Museum on last Saturday afternoon. Museum is in walking distance from Howrah Railway Station and convenient to reach. I would rate it as excellent because it is only Rail Museum near Kolkata with so much information about Eastern Railway. Evolution of Indian Railways is nicely displayed with model coaches like Double Decker trains.,Saloon Car trains, narrow gauge steam engines etc. Inside this small open air museum various small galaries are maintained on Railway Commnication process, Railway stamps, Railways staffs. Very informative and every school student should visit this place. There also a toy train running with additional ticket of Rs. 10 per person and the museum ticket price is Rs. 30. Museum is small, it will not take more than 2-3 hours to visit.

Some OLD photographs are kept to tell about history, but they are kept in one corner and so high that one cannot really read or understand what it is, I would rather recommend a rail museum with all these. Huge station and well maintained, the cafeteria in Old building is good

This is a beautiful and extensive garden, featuring the largest banyan tree in the world, collections of palms and other plant groups, and a new rosarium with hundreds of rose bushes.
