"THE DOOR OF THE SUN" is the name of the Megalith near Buzovgrad village, Kazanlak municipality. It is known as the Bulgarian Stonehenge and represents an ancient Thracian observatory. There is a window in the rocks 1.80 m high, in which falls the sun at sunset during the Megalith Festival. The view from the rocks at Valley of Roses and Thracian Kings along the Tunja river is exceptional!

Unfortunately completely closed (even the more clandestine routes you might find online) yet still impressive to see. Route to the monument is best coming from the south (good road), yet route from the west is also very doable with a regular car, despite what other reviews say. This route also gets you past a couple of massive concrete & steel torches.

Everything there is done in a very smart way and looks beautiful and attractive! The wine tasting visits are worth making them because the variety of wines is big the staff is very friendly and helpful and everything makes you feel good! It takes almost two hours and do not forget to order in advance while booking your tasting plateau of cheese and cold cuts! Bread should also be ordered in advance!

The tomb is part of a large royal Thracian necropolis in the Valley of the Thracian Rulers. The monument dates back to the 4th century BCE and has been on the UNESCO protected World Heritage Site list since 1979!! The most amazing, beautiful and old painting!!
