Our building and services have won awards for design and service to the community. We trace the art, history, and technology of folk potters in northeast Georgia.
We stopped here and found the exhibits fascinating as they focused on generations of family potters including the Meaders, the Hewell and Ferguson families. A film at the beginning featured Lanier and CJ Meaders explaining how the clay is dug up, turned, glazed and fired without the help of modern machinery. The museum is located in a beautiful, light filled building built in 2006. Some pottery pieces dated back to the 1800s. The museum explains the original purpose of pottery was for food storage. When glass and cans became popular for containers after 1900, pottery became more decorative. It’s a good overview of hard-working families in Mossy Creek, Gillsville and other rural towns in NE Georgia.

My favorite part was the Anti-stress facial!! So relaxing!! The overall body massage was fantastic as well. This was my 3rd ever massage and the very first for my friend, and by far was the best for me and my friend was amazed at how much she enjoyed it!! I cannot express how relaxing and enjoyable it was. If you have never had a massage or if you are just looking for the best massage you have ever had, you need to visit these ladies, they are wonderful!!! I would definitely give them more stars if I could!

Skylake Galleries~ Art, Antiques, and Accessories presents artwork of over 15 local artists with exceptional paintings, photography, sculpture, wood turnings, plus paintings of several nationally known artists. The Gallery also incorporates antique furniture, linens, quilts, dolls, china, and architectural antiques. Check the website about free artist demos, classes and workshops.
If you are in North Georgia, this new art and antique gallery are a needed stop. In a beautifully renovated building, at the entrance to the Skylake community, this gallery holds some of the most beautiful oils and photos of the landscape it resides in. While their art has other focuses as well, I was drawn to the works depicting local scenes. I especially enjoyed the photography by Charles Stephens, one of the owners. I meet him personally the day I was in the shop. He was friendly and charming as well as being a gifted photographer. I plan to return to purchase some art for a holiday gift for my husband!

Travel through centuries of culture at Hardman Farm State Historic Site along the iconic Unicoi Turnpike, once a Native American trail, passing through a historic farm landscape and linking Georgia’s earliest inhabitants with the enduring legacy of the Nichols and Hardman families’ and their Nineteenth Century Italianate mansion.
This is a must see Georgia State Park. History of the house and farm was fascinating. Fran was our guide for the house tour, and she was knowledgeable and fun. For those who are home schooling, this would be a great day trip for a history lesson. The outbuildings are amazing. There are a lot of "Modern Inventions" in the house that were way ahead of their time. House is currently only open for tours on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday. Call or check the website for hours. We spent about 4 hours and we would love to go back and explore again. So Happy that our newest State park is such a joy.
