Specializing in artisanal Belgian style ales, Save the World Brewing Co is a 100% philanthropic production craft brewery. Our beers are available for purchase to enjoy during your visit or to take home in growlers or by the bottle, six-pack, or case!
We stopped in for a quick visit on the spur of the moment but ended up staying for over an hour because the atmosphere was so great. There are lawn games that our kids enjoyed and great Belgian style ales—husband enjoyed the Belgian quad. The kids enjoyed the craft sodas. They were starting a Harry Potter trivia game just as we were leaving. Don’t miss this fun spot if you are in the area! Check the hours on the website.

We were renting a vacation home in Lago Vista for a family 50th birthday celebration. We had read good reviews of the winery and decided to enjoy a night off the lake for dinner. We were so glad we made the drive to the beautiful winery. The table was set up nicely for our family of 10 and the menu had many great options to suit our family with dietary restrictions. The birthday girl even got a personalized bottle of wine. The owners were very friendly and accommodating!

The Doeskin Ranch Trailhead is about an hour from Austin via I-35. Once you get off the interstate, it's a pretty drive through ranch land. I drove in on a Sunday morning, and there was plenty of parking at the trailhead. Just down the dirt road from the parking area are pit toilets, an amphitheater, and free trail maps. I hiked the Rimrock Trail, a moderate 2.2-mile loop along a shaded creek, through a meadow, up a hill, and then back down again. Elevation gain is pretty mild (200 ft), and there were some overgrown spots in the meadow. There are some beautiful vistas at the top, but you have to peek through trees to find them. It took me an hour with plenty of photo stops, and overall, it's a great little hike with no crowds. There are several other trails, and everything seemed well maintained. Parking is free, and as others have said, be sure to take the gorgeous Cow Creek Rd (Rt 328) on your way in or out.
