Finally made it to the iconic outback races held in Birdsville every year. A great adventure, the drive in the outback and meeting lots of people from all over the country. Lots to see and if you take your time the small towns along the route have their own parties so you can break up the trip. Birdsville is a small town approximately 1400km West of Brisbane, Queensland.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 1-hour film (in the fly free zone!). Lots of interesting items and a good selection of 'tourist' items. Very friendly and helpful staff.

What a spectacular place to visit when in Birdsville. We went with the Birdsville Adventure Tours group. The tour guide was terrific, she showed us the sights around town first then headed to Big Red. She explained who’s property it was on ( one huge station), she showed us where the Big Red Bash is held out their in July, must be interesting. Then we headed up the dune for our sunset experience, they supply nibbles & drinks plus you get a free stubbie holder. What a beautiful place, the colours are amazing, we were lucky enough to watch people drive up from the bottom. The scenery from the dunes are beautiful & well worth the trip whether you want to drive yourself ( if you own a four wheel drive) or go on a tour I would highly recommend you do this is a once in a lifetime experience.
